In this build of the iconic Ayrton Senna Lotus 97T, I will endeavour to make all of the images self explanatory to help make the project as straightforward and simple as possible.
The famous sponsor logo's will not be applied as to show them infringes on advertising legalities. The decals are supplied with the kit however.
During the build, there will occasionally be an 'optional' stage presented, showing some very easy upgrades, and added details. PLEASE NOTE: These additions are NOT in any way the responsibility of anyone, other than the modeller who chooses to add them.
Enjoy the build...
STAGE 1:
This is the first step toward building the iconic Lotus 97T driven by Ayrton Senna.
The stage includes the parts to assemble the front wing planes and Senna’s iconic yellow helmet.
Locate the left parts of the front wing plane 1A & 1B (marked with an ‘L’) and fit the upper and lower parts together, fixing them using 2 x MP screws.
Fit the side end plate 1D onto the narrow end of the wing plane assembly and fix in place using 2 x AP screws, through the locating holes in the narrow end of the end plate.
Locate the upper wing flap 1C and fix in place on the upper edge of the end plate 1D. Fix in place using 2 x BP screws.
Assembly of the right front wing plane is a repeat of the assembly process for the left front wing, using parts 1F, 1E, 1H & 1G. Store these parts safely for future use.
SENNA’S HELMET:
Locate the helmet and visor, parts 1I & 1J. Fit the visor in place on the helmet and fix in place using 2 x AM screws. Take care not to scratch the clear visor.

STAGE 2:
The set of parts included in this stage will allow you to build the rear wing.
Locate the rear wing flap parts 2B & 2C. Fit the parts together by pressing the pieces together. They will only fit one way.
Locate the Gurney flap, part 2E and the rear wing top flap, part 2D. Carefully screw the parts together using 5 x CP screws, paying close attention to the raised edge on the Gurney flap, which must be at the rear edge.
Locate the rear wing part 2A, and the left endplate part 2F. Fix the parts together using 3 x AP screws, through the locating holes in the end plate and into the wing panel.
Retrieve the rear wing flap previously assembled (parts 2B & 2C) and fix in place on the upper rear edge of the wing end plate using 2 x AP screws. The small protruding connecting flap on the rear wing flat must be uppermost and at the rear of the assembly.
Attach the top flap, part 2D, to the upper corner of the wing end plate using 2 x BP screws. Secure the two central connecting flaps using the supplied FM screw and nut. You will find it easier to locate the nut in place first using a small piece of Blutak, then fitting the screw from the other side. Remove the Blutak afterwards.
Locate the right wing end plate part 2G. Fix this part in place on the other side of the rear wing assembly using 5 x AP screws as before.
Fix the upper flap to the end plate using 2 x BP screws.
The rear wing cross bar mount is fixed in place on the leading upper edge of the wing using 2 x CP screws through the holes in the top front corner of the end plates.
Store the assembly for future use.
SPONSORSHIP DECALS:
Waterslide decals are supplied in the kit of parts but will not be fitted here to avoid infringement of advertising law.
