cutting out the sides to get the floor of the Captains Quarters in. I am going to make the floor of the room level with with water line. I dont know what angle the back is to be, Will just have to suck and see about that bit. I am staining the deck with dark oak stain, but it is not all that dark. That is all for now, If anyone see's anything i am getting wrong, all comments with be appreciated. Mo

I have started the captains quarter's. The instruction tell me to cot up from the deck 20mm & 18mm in doing so the sides of the hull planking are showing below the level of the windows. so I have cut the planking just above the level of the rear windows. I would like to stress this is my first real build in 25 years, so please take my views, as that, my views and no instructions to be followed. I would really struggle to do this build, but for the information technology we have today, It is great to see everyone else's build logs to get tip's & tricks, That is why I am doing this log to help anyone else in my boat ( so to speak ) I pinned the base on to the second last frame, Fitted the rear windows to the base with some glue, soaked and heated the side windows to shape, and glued everything together. I have also taken this oppertunity to fill the gaps in the hull and sand, I have also given the upper planking a coat of sealer. I want to get the hull primed and to a stage that it is ready for the final coat, before I get on to the lining of the gunports, I am going to make the liners to the gun ports stick out slightly, from the planking. and I think it is easier sanded without these obtrusions. I will report back later. Mo Mo

Its been busy busy today in the boatyard, I have sanded, filled, sanded again and applied sealer, I then sanded then primed, I again filled and sanded, and given a second coat of primer, I will carry on this procedure untill all the blemishes have dissapeared. I have noticed that there is a gap between the rear window panel and my upper planking, I think the two should touch, But I have still to add the make up's to the roof of the side windows, hopefully this will take up the gap, if not will just have to do some remedials. I ment to say in my last post, The side window panels, where they meet the planking, I should have taken a back bevel of the plywood to get a good joint, I did not do this, so that will mean more filling and sanding. Mo Mo

Update on my progress. I have given the preparation to the hull a rest for now, will get back to it soon, I have in the mean time, prepared the blocks for the cannons. I bent some brass wire which I got with the kit, in the shape of a hook, I bored the blocks with a small drill, glued in the wire hook, trimmed the hook to size once glued, and then redrilled the holes that the thread is going to go through. Quite happy for a first attempt, I can honestly say this has to be the most difficult task to date. I have a small problem the the fuzziness of the thread, I think I will run some watered down glue over the thread, to try to keep the thread better looking, cant really see it with the naked eye, only really shows when zoomed in. I have also prepared some coils of rope, over and out Mo Mo

Hi Mo you might already know this but some people have recomended that using watered down pva on the thread 1st to stop the hirsuit probs you have regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Mo coil your ropes on sticky backed paper, the likes of gaffer tape is good. When you have coiled as much as you need, now is the time to add PVA adhesive, the coil will be held in place by the gaffer tape untill the adhesive dries over night. only use a small amount of adhesive. I hope that helps Regards Mike MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
