Hi All, BigGrin

Well Pack 4 arrived yesterday. This pack covers Issues 9 - 14, YES a whole six issues.

In Issue 9, we will finish the eyelid mechanism and start building the mouth servo. You also get the next action video. Cool Calm down its only 11 seconds long LOL Flapper LOL .

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

You will also need the main head assembly for the first stages of this update (plus the grease) and the battery pack.

Bring the head assembly to the table and position the eyelid slider as shown in Pic 2. (Also add a small amount of grease between the points indicated). Then fix the slider in place. Use two parts 9-03 and 2 x F-TP screws as in Pic 3.

Now take part 9-02, the slider arm (with the curvature uppermost) and press the front end into place on the eyelid part. Pic 4. Without moving any parts, you should now be able to press the other end onto the eyelid slider. Pic 5.

Now its test time:

Make sure the battery pack switch is in the "OFF" position.

Connect the battery pack to the servo plug of the eye slider, red to red and black to black. Pic 6.

Caution: this test takes a split second, then the battery pack must be switched "OFF" again or damage may occur.

So, switch "ON" - eyelid slider moves forward - switch "OFF". Don`t blink.LOL

Push/pull the eyelid slider back to its start position and disconnect the battery pack. Job Done. Cool

You can view my very short video of this on the link below:

https://youtu.be/uUCYpN_c1j8

Now collect the rest of the parts supplied in this issue and the grease supplied earlier.

Insert the two shafts (9-07) into the places shown in the motor mount 9-04 and apply a little grease to the shafts. Pic 7. Then place a gear 9-05 as shown in Pic 8 and apply a little grease to the smaller gear. Now position the second gear 9-05. Pic 9.

Finally, put the motor 9-08 (which already has the worm drive 9-06 attached) into position and apply a little grease to the worm drive. Pic 10.

That`s it for this update. Pic 11.

See you all soon for the update of Issue 10.

Hi All, BigGrin

Time for the Issue 10 update. This update will come in parts A + B, where part A will complete the construction of the mouth servo (started in the last issue) and part B where we will fit a micro switch, that should have been done earlier in the build. Blink Confused

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

You will also need the partially built mouth servo from Issue 9.

Issue 10 part A:

Fit the gear 10-3 onto the square shaft 10-04. Pic 2.

Apply a small amount of grease to the bottom corners of the square shaft. Pic 3. Then place the shaft into the servo box and apply grease to the two places shown in Pic 4. Note the position of the square end of the shaft (indicated by the two red lines). Two opposite side of the square shaft should be level with the long sides of the servo case. If not, reposition the gear/shaft so it is.

Next, put the left servo cover in place and secure it using 3 x P-TP screws. Pic 5.

Finally fit the two drive wheels (one either side) onto the square shaft. Make sure that the round posts on the wheels are positioned correctly, then fix them in place using 2 x F-TP screws as shown in Pics 6 and 7.

Carefully store the mouth servo. The micro switch 10-05 will be used in part B.

So see you soon for part B.Cool

Hi All, back already BigGrin

Issue 10 part B:

For this update you will need the micro switch 10-05 and ET`s head assembly.

Start by removing the two screws indicated in Pic 1.

Remove the servo box and the drive wheel (they may come out together, but they need to be separated prior to re-assembly). Fit the micro switch 10-05, onto the two pins in the orientation shown and pass the wires behind the hook. All shown in Pic 2. Then, keeping the micro switch in place and the wire behind the hook, pass the plug on the wires through the space indicated in Pic 3. The wire should come through the frame at the point shown in Pic 4.

Carefully position the servo wheel, ensuring the actuating post is positioned as indicated in Pic 5. Now replace the servo box, Pic 6. CAUTION: Do not force the servo box in place. A little wriggling of the box, with slight downward pressure should relocate the servo spindle into the drive wheel.

Finally, replace the two screws you removed earlier. Pic 7.

Issue 10 is now complete. Pic 8.

See you soon for Issue 11.Cool

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we are with the update for Issue 11.

In this update we will extend, fit and test the mouth servo. I will provide a link to the video of the operation of the servo.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the mouth servo from Issue 10 and the main head assembly, plus the battery test pack.

Take the mouth servo from Issue 10 and position the part 11-02 (the one with the two holes in the end, not pins) from this issue, onto the side of the servo as shown in Pic 2.

Then secure the part using 2 parts 11-05 and 2 x F-TP screws. Pic 3.

Repeat this operation on the other side of the servo, using part 11-01 and 2 parts 11-05 plus 2 x F-TP screws. Make sure the pins and holes in the parts 11-01 and 11-02 line up properly. Pic 4 and 5.

Complete the servo unit by pressing parts 11-03 and 11-04 into the servo, as shown in Pics 6 and 7 respectively.

Now bring the main head assembly onto the table and position the servo unit as shown in Pic 8. Fix the servo unit in place using 2 x part 11-05 and 2 x F-TP screws. Pic 9. NOTE: You will see that I have moved the servo unit forward a bit, to make access for the screws and cups a little easier. It is my guess that this servo may need position adjustment at a later stage. Time will tell.

Time for the test:

With the battery pack in the "OFF" position, connect the servo motor (just fitted) to the battery pack. (RED to RED and BLACK to BLACK). Pic 10.
NOTE: When you switch the battery pack on, the servo should run smoothly and the actuating lever move up and down. If it struggles to operate, switch it "OFF" immediately.

If this happens, loosen the 4 x F-TP screws that hold the actuating arm in place just a little and retest.

Link to my video test: https://youtu.be/tuGj4IoRb8g

So, that`s it for this update. Pics 11 and 12.

See you soon for Issue 12, where we start applying ET`s skull parts.

Hi All, BigGrin

It`s update time for Issue 12 of ET. In this issue we will start building the frame that will effectively be ET`s skull.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the head assembly from the previous issue.

Before you start this assembly, please take note of the three fixing points for this part, shown in Pic 2. Then position the Upper Left head structure 12-01 accordingly, Pic 3. Now, fix it in place using 3 x P-TP screws Pic 4.

That completes this update. Blink Pic 5.

Both issues 13 and 14 will continue the construction of ET`s head frame, so I will see you soon.

Hi All, BigGrin

I back with the update for Issue 13. In this update we will add the other top frame to ET`s head.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the head assembly from the last update (Issue 12).

The screw fixing points are indicated in Pic 2. Place the Upper Right head structure 13-01 in place, but make sure that the three pins on its upper edge locate with the left side, as indicated in Pic 3. Then fix the part in place using 3 x P-TP screws. Pic 4.

That completes this update. Pics 5 and 6.

Hi All, BigGrin

Last update for this pack, with Issue 14. The next part of ET`s head frame is attached to the head assembly.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the main head assembly from the previous issue.

Turn the main head assembly over, so you are looking at the underside. Position the frame 14-01 onto the main head assembly. Engage the square pins on the front edge, into the respective holes in the front face frame (circled in red) and align the frame with the previously installed upper frame. This should automatically line-up the screw fixing hole. All shown in Pic 2.

When you are sure that everything is properly aligned, fix the part in place using a P-TP screw. Pic 3.

That`s it for this update/pack, Pic 4. So I will see you again as soon as the next pack arrives.
