After reading "Son Of Bulwark" re brass wire being fragile and with a tendancy to break I followed his advice for the construction of the chainwales. No problems and I like the look.

Had a lot of the fittings left over and had a thought. The footrope supports are fiddly to make and probably due to my beginner status seem to vary a bit. Also with the later issue I have the same problem with the brass wire breaking.

Solution:- Using some more of the fitting I purchased for the chain wales I have drilled the yards (carefully)and inserted the brass fittings. Cut to size and paint. Uniform look and size of the eyelet

Piccys attached includung one of the 400 I took of HMS Victory on a visit to Portsmouth at the start of my build. Nice to refer to the original sometimes for background and information. I did notice in the picture that the colour scheme of the yards on the actual ship is not as suggested in the build. May have to do a bit of repainting

Hi Gil
I came up with this solution myself some time back although I didn't provide any pics to illustrate. This worked for me not only was the wire we were supplied with very brittle, the main reason was that the 'twisty wire' when completed, didn't look a satisfactory job and I also couldn't get them to stay in position. Any way, nice one Gil
Happy building

I used the gas cooker to heat the wire till it glowed red. After this the wire bent easily and made the twists much tighter
