Issue 39

Picture 1 shows the parts for this issue.

Assembling the Rear Brake Drums and Brake Cables

First cut the Cable (39D) for the brake line into four pieces at set out below.
1 Piece at 50mm
1 Piece at 150mm
3 Pieces at 500mm

Tip: If the cables have lots of kinks in them, particularly the 500mm cables, place them in hot water, NOT boiling, and carefully using your hands, work the cables to remove the kinks.

Take the first 500mm cable and place one end onto the brake hose junction (39E), picture 2. Note: I used a little quick drying glue to hold the cables in place, this is purely a personal preference.

Place the assembly into the pin on the rear axle on the left-hand side, picture 3.

Take the left-hand brake drum (39A), this will have an “L” on the inside of the part and attach the 50mm cable to the top and one of the 500mm cables at the bottom as shown in picture 4. Note the orientation of the brake drum. Next, take the right-hand side brake drum, this has the letter “R” on the inside, and attach the 150mm cable at the top and the last 500mm cable at the bottom. Again, note the orientation of the brake drum, picture 5.

Place the left brake drum onto the onto the rear axle, pushing the two pins into the holes. Next, attach the 50mm cable to the brake hose junction as shown in picture 6.

Push the rear brake line bracket (39F) into the hole on the rear axle as shown in picture 7.

Attach the right-hand brake drum to the right side of the axle in the way as you did with the left side. Take the 150mm cable and feed it through the bracket, over the rear gear box and into the brake hose junction as shown in picture 8.

Feed the three 500mm cables through the underside of the floor pan as highlighted in yellow in picture 9. Note: I used some tape to hold the ends of the cables to the assembly.

Pictures 10 shows the complete assembly for this issue.

Attach the left exhaust pipe (43A) and secure it to the exhaust pipe frame (43C) using a KP screw, picture 2. Note the connecting parts are angled. Picture 3 shows how it should look when connected. The left and right exhaust pipes also have the letter “L” and “R” on them at the ends.

Attach one of the muffler tops (43D) to the exhaust pipe using an AP screw as shown in picture 4. Attach the other muffler top to the right exhaust pipe (43B) in the same way, picture 5.

Feed the left exhaust assembly through the rear of the vehicle as shown in picture 6, attaching the muffler to the floor pan with a CM screw. Next, attach the right-hand exhaust pipe in the same way by securing the muffler to the floor pan with a CM screw, picture 7.

Turn the whole model assembly over and attach the right-hand exhaust pipe to the exhaust pipe frame using a KP screw, picture 8.
