Issue 9 Part 1

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Making the Curtains

Take the “Eating Together” back wall from issue 8 and fit the Window Box to the outside of the window as shown in pictures 2 and 3. Fit the two remaining spacers, again from issue 8, over the pins on both sides of the window. You may need to apply a little quick drying glue, picture 4.

Take the two curtain parts and lay them face down. Make sure the wider fold is at the top. Place double sided tape to three sides of the fabric as shown in picture 5. Peel the backing off the side and bottom and attach the short wires, picture 6. Cut any excess wire.

Using a craft knife, separate the curtain rail and knobs from the sprue, picture 7. Thread the rail through the channel in the folded top edge, picture 8. Using some quick drying glue, attach the curtain rail ends onto the rail, making sure they both face the same way, picture 9.

Peel off the tape backing and gather the curtains along the rail so there is a gap in the centre. Press the two lugs from the back of the curtain knobs and push them into the holes in the wall. You may want to use some quick drying glue to the lugs from the rear of the wall, picture 10.

Now place the wall to the “Time to Relax Box” applying instant glue to the three slots along the bottom, picture 11.

That completes the assembly for Part 1 of this issue.

Issue 9 Part 2

Fitting the Left and Right Walls

Fit the left and right walls to the “Relaxing at Home” scene. First check which way around the wall parts go. The hook shape projections are at the top on the outside of the scene as shown in pictures 13 and 14.

Making the Bedspread
First take the bedspread fabric and coat the fabric with a diluted PVA adhesive solution, 2 parts water 1 part glue. This will make the fabric a little more rigid and stop any fraying when you cut the material. Allow this to dry fully, pictures 15 and 16.

Lay the fabric with the stronger coloured side facing upwards and place it onto the bedspread template with the printed side face down. Use a small amount of tape to hold the corners together. This will make it easier when cutting the fabric using the template. Cut through the paper and the fabric by following the outer lines, picture 17.

Place the cut-out fabric on a table and with the topside facing up, apply some double-sided tape to the top edge, picture 18. Peel off the backing paper and fold the fabric over to around 1cm as shown in picture 19.

The next part of the assembly the magazine tells you to apply double sided tape to all the edges on the underside of the bedspread, then apply the two larger wires. There is not enough length in the wire to go around the sides and bottom to do this. Please apply the tape as shown in picture 20 and peel off the backing paper and attach the wires as shown in picture 21.

That completes the assembly for Part 2 of this issue.

Issue 10 Part 1

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Assembling the bed

Fit the bed base into the upper bed part pressing the four mounting posts onto the base, then into the holes in the bed, picture 2 and 3. Attach the headboard as show in picture 4. I applied some double-sided tape on the outside of the bed where the headboard attaches. This stopped the part from falling off.

Apply double sided tape around the bed area as shown in pictures 5 and 6.

Remove the backing paper from the double-sided tape. Retrieve the bedspread you made in the previous issue, and starting from the top, lay the bedspread over the tape. Fold the fabric from the right sticking it to the tape and start to create pleats. Lay the left side of the bedspread in the same way, avoiding any wrinkles as much as possible. Picture 7 shows the bedspread in place.

That completes part 1 of this issue.

Issue 10 Part 2

Making the Flowerpot

Take the petal sheet and the leaf sheet and using a sharp craft knife, cut out the pieces. You will not need all the of the pieces from the sheet as they have provided spares. Cut out around three of the “F” and “G” leaves and two of the “H” leaves. I cut out all the larger petals, but feel free to use however many you need, picture 8.

Starting with the petals, I used the end of a small brush and pushed in the centre of the petal to take the flatness out of the paper petal, picture 9. Starting with the larger petal, I then glued with next size down petal onto the larger one and then applied the smaller petal.

I folded the leaves using the back of the craft knife, pressing down on the leaves to create a fold. I then glued the petals onto the three “F” leaves. You will also see that I have made some more of the smaller petals and placed them on the “H” leaves, leaving the “G” leaves as they are. Picture 10 shows the flowers ready to place in the pot.

Take the flowerpot from this issue and fill to about two-thirds with PVA glue. Allow the glue to partly dry before arranging the flowers in place. Place the flowerpot into the display table from the “Relaxing at Home” scene. You may need to apply a little glue to stop it falling out.

Picture 11 shows the complete assembly of the flowers and pot.

Picture 12 shows the complete assembly of the flowers in the scene.

That completes part 2 of this issue.

Issue 10 Part 3

Painting the Flooring.

In part 3 of this issue, I will show you how to paint the flooring in the “Relaxing at Home” scene and the “Eating Together" scene. This is purely your own choice whether you do this or not. I personally think it adds more realism to the scenes.

The magazine shows you how and what colour paints to use, however, I have used slightly different colours as you will see.

Starting with the “Relaxing at Home” scene, picture 13, I mixed up a brown colour, burnt umber acrylic paint, and used one part paint and two parts water. I painted all the flooring, allowing to dry for no more that a minute and then rubbed off with cotton wool. Make sure you rub in the direction of the floorboards. Once I was happy with the result, I then used a brown acrylic paint marker pen to draw through the grooves. Picture 14 shows the materials I used, whilst picture 15 shows the result.

Now to the opposite side scene, “Eating Together”. For this flooring I used white acrylic paint. Using a small amount of paint to the brush, brush any excess paint to give you a dry brush effect. Dab the brush to the tiles rather than painting the tiles. You can also dab any excess off with some cotton wool. Once this was done, I then used a white acrylic marker pen to draw through the grooves in the same way as before.

Pictures 16 and 17 show the materials used, whilst picture 18 shows the result.

That completes this issue.

Issue 11

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Assembling the Stand

Take the stand parts, picture 2 and place the left side of the stand into the main stand, noting its orientation, picture 3. Then place the base part to the bottom, picture 4. Finally place the top into place as shown in picture 5.

Assembling the landscape
Take the grass slope panel and the bag of flock powder, picture 6. Take out around a quarter of the flock powder and place it into a mixing pallet or plastic lid.

Using PVA glue paint the grass slope, mixing the PVA with a ratio of 1:1 with water. Note: Do Not paint the top of the scene where the houses will go. Paint the slope with an even coat, then sprinkle the flock powder over before the glue has time to dry. Once done allow the assembly to dry for around half an hour, then press the flock down with your finger. Allow the assembly to dry thoroughly for at least a day before handling it again, picture 7.

Place the woodland part into the grooves along with the blue part in the same way as shown in picture 8.

Note: Do Not glue these into position just yet as these will be removed in the next issue.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 12

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Making Snoopy’s Bed

Place all the characters into the bed. Note: There are indents in the bed to shows where to place them. Using some double-sided tape place the tray of biscuits, from issue 8, on the bed as shown in picture 2.

Take the baseboard from issue 6 and place the bed onto the mounting along with the bedside stand, picture 3.

Assembling the Left and Right Box Sides
Picture 4 shows the box side. Note that the top of this part has the upper tab close to the top edge with the small “U” shape mountings to either side.

Before assembling one of the sides to the box, test fit the part first. Note that the two “U” shape mountings clip into the hooks on the side of the scene. When happy with how it will fit, apply glue to the ends of both walls as shown in picture 5, and before the glue has time to set, attach the side panel, clipping the “U” mounting into the clips first and the tabs into their slots at the bottom. Press the side panels together where you placed the glue. Looking from above, make sure the outer box sides are properly assembled and that the screw holes line up. Place a screw in the upper tab and tighten firmly then place another screw in the lower tab as shown in picture 6. Do the same to the other side of the assembly.

Picture 7 shows this stage complete.

Fitting the Wall
Fit the wall into the baseboard provided in issue 10, applying a little glue to the tabs, pictures 8 and 9. Take the right and left walls and fit them into the baseboard and the rear wall, picture 10.

Finally, fit the landscape you assembled in issue 11 and fit its tabs and locating pins into the holes as shown in picture 11.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 13

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Assembling the Background

Retrieve the Woodstock’s Nest scene from the previous issue. Remove the blue woodland scene as shown in picture 2. Take the smaller house and secure it to the left-hand side at the top with instant glue. Replace the blue woodland part and then remove the right hand green woodland part. Secure the larger house in the slot using instant glue next to the blue woodland part, and then reattach the green woodland part, securing it with instant glue, picture 3.

Take the smaller fence and attach it to the right side of the scene, securing it with instant glue. Note: make sure the two crossbars protrude to the left. Secure the larger fence as shown in picture 4.

Making the Tree, Nest, and Fence
Place the two smaller branches and secure them in place using instant glue into the bottom of the nest as shown in picture 5. Now attach the nest assembly to the tree part, picture 6.

Before we secure the tree to the slope, make sure you remove any flock powder that is inside the slot that holds the tree in, picture 7. Place the tree inside the slot and secure with instant glue, picture 8.

Finally, secure the larger fence to the bottom of the slope as shown in picture 9.

Picture 10 shows the complete assembly for this issue.
