Hi All, BigGrin

With the combination of logistical/delivery problems and then the forum not wanting to play nicely, this update is a bit delayed. Blink Blink

So, while the going is good I`ll try and get something up for ET`s pack 11.

This pack continues the work on the left arm mechanism and starts on the right arm mechanism towards the end.

The parts supplied for issue 51.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly from issue 50 and the sachet of grease supplied earlier.

Start with the assembly from issue 50 and note the two small cutouts in the casing as shown in Pic 2. These cutouts will allow the positioning of the gears. Please also note that the gears and spindles supplied are all identical, so it does not matter which one you use at each stage of assembly.

Fit a spindle 51-02 next to the main gear, Pic 3, then take a gear 51-01 and apply grease to the small cog as in Pic 4. Now remove the nylon bearing from the shaft of the main gear (keep it safe) and place the gear onto the new shaft, with the small cog at the bottom, Pic 5.

Repeat the process with the other spindles and gears (don`t forget to grease the small cogs) as shown in Pics 6 - 9, then replace the nylon bearing onto the main gear shaft as indicated in Pic 10.

That`s all for this update, so store the assembly carefully until next time.

Hi All, BigGrin

Time for the issue 52 update, where we will fit the electric motor to the left arm mechanism.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the gear box assembly from issue 51.

The first task is to fit the worm drive 52-02 to the motor 52-01. The worm drive has a short area at one end where there is not any gear on it and this is the end that must be pushed onto the motor spindle first. The easiest way to push the worm gear onto the motor, is to push the part against a very firm flat surface and press the motor into it. When fully engaged, the outer edge of the worm drive must be 18mm from the main casing of the motor, not from the collar around the motor spindle, see Pic 2.

Now position the motor inside the gear box from issue 51, in the orientation shown in Pic 3 and finally apply some grease to the worm drive and the gear it engages with, as in Pic 4.

That`s all for this update, so will see you soon for issue 53.

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we go with the next update for ET, with issue 53. In this issue we will close up the left arm mechanism and add the drive wheel.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly from issue 52.

Take the assembly from issue 52 and the cover 53-01. Place, but DO NOT fix the cover in place just yet, as I am going to add some instructions that have been missed out.

With the cover in place, look at the hexagonal shaft that protrudes through the cover and make sure that a flat surface of the shaft is facing and square to the narrow end of the servomotor box. See Pic 2. If this is not the case, here is the fix: DO NOT force the shaft round to the correct position. Remove the cover and lift the shaft slightly to disengage it from the other gears, then turn it to the required position and reinsert it. Now replace the cover and recheck.

When you are happy with the shaft position, hold the cover firmly in place and fix it to the box using 6 x P-TP screws as shown in Pic 3.

Now take the arm rotor 53-02 and position it so that the off centre post is nearest the narrow end of the motor box, Pic 4. Fix the rotor using an F-TP screw as shown in Pic 5.

That`s all for this update, so I`ll see you soon for issue 54. ThumpUp

Hi All, BigGrin

The ET update is here for issue 54. This will cover the next stage of the left arm mechanism, where the servomotor is mounted onto a bracket and then onto the main body.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly from issue 53 and the main body assembly.

Place the bracket 54-01 next to the assembly from issue 53 and note the five mounting points, all shown in Pic 2. Slide the servomotor into position between the posts of the bracket, Pic 3 and fix it in place using 5 x P-TP screws from beneath, as shown in Pic 4.

Now bring the main body of ET to the table and position the bracket/servomotor assembly onto the left side as shown in Pic 5 and then fix the bracket to the body using a further 4 x P-TP screws, Pic 6.

That`s it for this update, Pic 7. I`ll see you soon for issue 55.

Hi All, BigGrin

Its two for the price of one today. I`ll start with issue 55 and then go on to issue 56 straight afterwards, as these are carbon copies of previous issues.

We start building the right arm mechanism in issue 55 as follows.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

Now add a nylon ring 55-02 to each end of the servomotor gear as indicated in Pic 2.

As before, that`s it for this update. See you very soon for issue 56.

Hi All, BigGrin

I`m back with issue 56 already. LOL

We continue with the construction of the right arm mechanism.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly from issue 55.

Take the mount 56-01 and insert one of the nylon bearings 56-02 as shown in Pic 2. Now add the assembly from issue 55 using the orientation shown in Pic 3. Finally place the second nylon bearing 56-02 over the upper part of the shaft as in Pic 4.

That`s all for now, store the assembly very carefully until the next pack arrives.
