I've noticed an increase in the number of posts relating to items that needs to be reworked. As all our time is precious, would a thread where we can list these elements for those who still have to do them, be valuable?

What about something to the effect of?

Problem

The planking of the forecastle is too short.

Reason for rework:

Issue 31: Stop the forecastle plank 142mm from the forward bulkhead.
Issue 60: Measure 150mm back from the forward bulwark and add a little piece of planking (8mm)

Suggested remedy:
(NB: This is a deviation from the official build dairy and the supplied instructions. You follow the remedy at your own risk)

Stop the forecastle plank 150mm back from the forward bulkhead.

Avoiding the rework

You can still catch it before planking the forecastle in issue 31.

fwiw, I think this is an excellent idea and I am surprised this is not already in place.

I am in Australia and received issues 2 & 3 yesterday via subscription. This means I have received the infamous item 15 which doesn't sit like the others pieces I have so far. In short I will now have to troll (sic) through the members build diaries to find the solution. OK I will use the search function but I think you get the idea.

Would have thought this would have been rectified? Perhaps it has and the situation is not as bad as it was; but I am doubting that at this time.

Anyway, I'm in no rush and intend to double check everything.

From Son of Bulwark (Darron)

Problem:

To avoid having to move the third heart block up over the bands on the main mast

Reason for rework:

Issue 62: the plan shows the third heart block at 195mm above the deck with two bands above it.

Issue 100 step 1: Before fitting the sail, ensure that the third heart block on the main mast is as close below the stay as possible. If you need to slide it up the mast, it can be 'walked' up and over the bands by pushing up one side, then the other, and repeating this until the block is in its correct position.

Suggested remedy:
(NB: This is a deviation from the official build dairy and the supplied instructions. You follow the remedy at your own risk)

Fit this block between the top band and the hounds leaving enough room for the 0.5mm mizzen topmast stay that goes just below the hounds and make sure all the heart blocks are set 10mm - 12mm away from the masts, but no more than 12mm from the masts or you will need to redo them to rig the ship correctly, the plan shows them at 12mm from the mast.

Avoiding the rework:
You can still catch this before fitting the heart block in issue 62

@ Tomick, thanks for the links.

I only have the first three issues but can see the part 15 does not marry up at the bottom. I don't know the full extent of the problem as yet, hopefully this is it Blink although I am safe in the knowledge that you, and many others, have paved the way for a noob like me.

Really looking forward to getting stuck into this project but staying with the dry fit for now Drool

Problem
The pin rail uprights are too short leading to the belaying pins touching the deck and making the rigging difficult.

Reason for rework
Issue 55: Make the uprights for the pin rails 15mm high.

Suggested remedy:
(NB: This is a deviation from the official build dairy and the supplied instructions. You follow the remedy at your own risk)

Make the uprights for the pin rails 20mm high

Avoiding the rework
You can still catch it before making the pin rails in issue 55

Extracted from Son of Bulwark (Darron)'s build dairy.

Link to SoB's Build dairy dealing with this issue

Problem:

The beakhead rails supplied are different from photos available of the Victory

Reason for rework

The parts supplied are different from photos available of the Victory

Suggested remedy:
(NB: This is a deviation from the official build dairy and the supplied instructions. You follow the remedy at your own risk)

Fill the notches with 2mm x 3mm wood on the two larger frames. When the glue is dry, sand them back to the frames.
To cut the new notches, locate were they need to go and mark the frames, use the bent rail as a guide. You will find you can straighten it a little to get the correct shape. Carefully cut the notches 2mm deep 3mm long like the other notches, use a square needle file to finish the shaping of the notches.

The old rails can be reused as they needed to be a little shorter, so refit them - any small gaps between the rails and the frames can be filled with wood filler.

Avoiding the rework
You can still catch it before fitting the beakhead rails in issue 86
