Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum thing and haven't built a model in many years but I couldn't resist the Mclaren, so here goes.
I live in the south of Johannesburg and have decided to use the newsagent route to getting the issues.
I hope to post pictures as the build progresses and would welcome advice from other modellers.
Here's the table that's been reserved for the next 85 weeks! and parts 1 & 2.

Have now got to part 4. The front wing is more or less complete but I've resisted fitting the flap stays as they have a mould split line through the centre and I want to have a look at the decals before going further. Would anyone recommend filing down the split line ? does the decal cover the loss of paint? Would be interested to hear.

Somewhere between parts 5 and 6. Couldn't resist balancing it all together to get an idea of the size.
It's sitting on a piece of 3mm Aluminium, 300 x 700, which I've sprayed matt black. This I'm planning to use as the base for a display case.

Well....not much real progress. The local CNA didn't have enough of issue 8, so i didn't get!! Now on back order but still waiting. Then they didn't have any of issue 10 so still waiting. Have also subscribed but as yet no parts.....
Patience is a virtue so this build will do me a lot of good.
Decided to pass the time by doing a bit of detailing, having been inspired by some of the UK builds. I've added a bit of Metallic look to the top ends of the front push rods and am trying to get carbon decal from the UK.
i've added a picture of the real thing that I took last year.
Advice and comments from more experienced builders welcome.

Hey mate, that looks brilliant, very neat.
May I ask what you have used for the silver?
This is on my 'Mod List' so be interested to know what material you have used.

While waiting for the next deliveries I've been putting s composite look to the front suspension. Quite tricky but I'm getting the hang of it. I used a clear coat to seal it. Thinking about the air ducts and some other bits of the hubs before putting it all together.
