Doing a bit of carbon look on the gearbox. Very tricky around all those pipes.

Quick question Malc...Where did you get the rocker cover bolts from? or did you make from scratch like my first lot on my build?

Hi Spence. thanks for the encouraging comments.
I searched for a while until I realised that a guy who actually uses small nuts and bolts like these is my local optician! I bought 1.2mm nuts and bolts in stainless (100 in a packet). At a 1/8 scale, represents about 10mm. Awkward little things to handleBigGrin .
Hope that helps.

Hi TAGS, I hope your build is going well. ( you must post some picturesBigGrin ).

I imported the CF decal sheets from Scale motor sports in the states.

http://www.scalemotorsport.com/merchant2/

Not cheap but I feel that it adds a little extra to the model and makes the construction process that bit more interesting.
Cheers
Malc.

Hi Malc,

Glad you've got your latest issues and it looks like you are about to enter into a more detailed part of the build as I see you have the cockpit parts and the suspension coils/dampers to get on with!? A bit fiddly, but not too bad and a lot of fun!! The steering wheel and seatbelts are just around the corner for you as well - enjoy!! BigGrin Cool

Looking forward to your next update.

Time really does fly by! haven't done too much on the build of late.Confused More parts arrived and I've been working on the rear suspension which is very fiddly. Could use a set of 1/8 scale fingersLaugh
I've added some colour to a few of the parts to get a more realistic metallic look.

Looking very nice indeed Malc, well done and glad to see you are adding your own personal touches!! Cool ThumpUp

Really strange that you have painted the 'torsion bar vertical cranks' in the gunmetal colour as I was just doing the very same thing to mine yesterday, though I dismantled mine and sanded smooth the mould lines first? I'm surprised that more builders of the MP4/23 haven't done this as reference photos show these to be 'gunmetal' colour not chrome as the kit parts are so well done for spotting that one!?

My reference photos also show that the end of the 'rotational damper' (part 6 issue#42) has a reflective gold colour to it? I have covered mine in REAL 24ct Gold Leaf to try and replicate this though it's not as yellow a gold as it should be!!

Looking great Malc, keep up the good work mate and keep posting those updates!! CoolThumpUp
