Hi shipmates! This time, I introduce the building of the wind breaking fences on the flight deck.  As describing below, I exchanged the all flight deck base parts that DeAGOSTINI Japan provided for plastic panels.  Because those parts were not proper for me. Since woods are warped by changing of humidity or temperature, wooden flight deck bases are easy to be transformed. Especially flight decks were not fixed in this model, and I could not ignore this transformation. I had one more reason. There were gaps of position between lift's openings of the original base parts and the lifts. #1 A plastic panel was processed as the flight deck base part. #2 Stainless mesh was used as the base of the fences. #3 Cut the mesh as the same shapes of the quadrilateral holes in the panel. #4 Attach brass rods and plastic papers on the mesh. #5 The fences were made to be movable. #6 Paint them in Sasebo color (gray) #7 Attach the planks around the fences and the lift opening. #8 The fence has a small stand for being stand position. Hi Ger C and shipmates! Thank you for proper comment, Ger C! This time, I will introduce some structures on the bow deck. I referred to pic #1 of the working sailors at the Akagi. We can see several structures in it. And I also referred to pic #2 of the bow of the battleship Mutsu salvaged from the bottom of the SETO Island Sea. We can see real bow’s structures in it. The 3rd picture is a part of the famous picture of the Akagi. These were all materials for enhancements of the bow.  #4 The shape of original part is quite different from the material. Hi shipmates! This time, I introduce attaching the hanger deck wall parts on the bow side of the Akagi. Although wall parts of the hanger deck are attached on the star board and port side of the hull, the hanger deck structure on the bow deck is not. It will be attached more late stage of this series. Since there are some parts under the structure, we are not able to attach it on the deck. Otherwise we will not be able to put the parts such as cable holders and anchor chains on the bow deck. When I attached the wall parts on the both side of the hull, I made some process on the interfaces of the wall parts. As it is very difficult for me to write what I wanted to do in English, please refer to the pictures below. #1 Before attaching the parts, I glued them temporary and embedded the joint with putty. #2 Make the putty smooth #3 Cut the joint sharply #4 Separated parts #5 They are easily glued smoothly even if one of them were attached on the hull. Hi Andy and Shipmates! Thank you for your every comments, Andy! This time, I introduce building the truss structure under the flight deck in the bow side. Although original metal mesh-like parts of the truss were not bad, I felt they were slightly too thick. I decided to remake them. I found Kent was the most suitable material for this building. Kent was very easy to be processed. #1 Original parts of the truss on (under?) the flight deck part. #2 Remake them by using Kent paper. #3 Paint in SASEBO-gray #4 Attach props, their supports and othe parts. #5 Put the flight deck on the hull. Hi shipmates! This time, I introduce making boat davits of the Akagi. Recently it is well known that the shapes of the Akagi's boat davits were strange. Since the parts provided by DeAGOSTINI Japan were popular letter J shaped ones, I had to re-make them. #1 Parts of bow and port side #2 Attach them at the proper position #3 Parts of stern and port side. Small hooks can be seen at the tips of the parts. #4 Attach them #5 Parts of the starboard side #6 Attach them #7 Hang the cutters. Since they are just hanged but not glued, I can remove the cutters from the boat davits at any time. (I well understand that it is meaningless ). At first I had mistake to make white bands. Hi Yaturo Another tip to look out for on the build and thanks for the information.Just a quick question on the forward hangar that overhangs the bow did you add the two walkways to the hangar that go round the outside of the hangar on your build. regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Yaturo Another question im afraid,  your enhancment on 'post 29'concerning the port side windows that are omited in the build,my Miyuki-kai plans do not show this as you have built it ,the plans just show as it is in the build by deag.Now i have a quandry il have to reserch more about this section so some help with pictures or other evidence of this part would be of great help thanks Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy! Thank you for comments and questions. Your first question is about walkways of the hangar above the bow. Original DeAGOSTINI model has the same walkways, but the parts were not proper for me. The parts had a thickness of about 1mm. It means that real walkway had a thickness of 25cm.  I attached picture of the Junyou, an IJN aircraft carrier. You can see a walkway of IJN aircraft carrier. That was never so thick. I attached one more picture of my model (#2). Your second question is about the windows of post 29. It is a very sharp question, I think. I attached several pictures. Picture #3 is the place of 1/250 Akagi model of Hasegawa Co. Several windows can be seen here. Picture #4 is my Akagi's part in process and the same picture had been attached on post 29. There were also several windows. I guess you may notice that the position of my windows were higher than those of Hasegawa's model. It is the reason why you can not find any windows on my picture attached on post 29. As shown in picture #5, there are windows (red circles) behind the gun platform. Here, I guess you may have another question why I took a mistake. To tell the truth, I wanted to make windows at lower position but I could not.  I had to make a space for motor boat and signal lights circuits here. This was the reason why I had to make them be higher. Since I may misunderstand your question, please do not hesitate to ask me more. hi yutaro i just wanted to say how useful this diary is. i have up to delivery seven of the akagi, which i assume would be up to issue 28 if it was sold the same way here. i keep up with all the various diaries, and everyone seems to be having a few problems, even tomick, so it's great that you can give some advice here. once i actually start building i will be refering to your very useful help. Come on you Jimmies

Hi Yaturo I agree about the walkways being too thick and out of scale,i think i will use the wood walkways provided as templtes to cut them out of thin brass sheet. As for the windows i mentioned,yes i agree they are included in the hasegawa 1/250 kit but 1/700and 1/350 kits by the same maker this window section is missing and the plans i have dont show this section either,perhaps it is down to the time or date of the tooling manafacturing to make these kits that have caused this problem to occure.I have included some pictures i have found of the kits mentioned, what i really need are some pictures of the real Akagi showing this window section regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
