at the point I deviated from the instructions and changed the lip that goes across the back of the shot locker, from the ply supplied to a piece of walnut see the next photo:-

I intend to cover the pump well and shot locker in 5mm x 1/2mm walnut, It has a grain like scale oak and I will leave it rough looking without sanding.

Hi Gus, I have the made as a kitBigGrin Regards Mike

They look very nice Mike. Cool

I am after some replacements for the Endeavour, so I just wondered if they were the Caldercraft 4 pounders

Hi Gus I have sourced cannons and a 10 spoke ships wheel, in brass etch, size is 24mm ( a better scale size) for the Endeavour because I wanted them for my build PM your email address and I will send Info and prices.

Regards Mike

Thanks Mike, will do.

ISSUE 128 BUILD

Hi Team, I have not posted on this build for a while, as many of you will know this is one of my favourite builds with lots of scope for enhancements and modifications, but more about those later.

In this issue the object is to construct the main hull supports, these are made up of dedicated parts, I followed the instructions at this point:-

ISSUE 128 BUILD
1st MODIFICATION

In the last picture I was not happy with the ends of the ply being on show so I decided to sheath the beems with 5 x 1/2mm walnut I have purchased to second plank the Victory, the grain is the nearest I have seen to simulate oak at this scale.

I cut some pieces and soaked them in hot water then clamped them onto the wood while wet but no adhesive, have a look:-

The sheathing will dry and the shape will be formed ready for the adhesive, I will show you the result next time.

2nd MODIFICATION

Next I saw from the Antatomy of the ship that a different limber configuration supporting the first deck was needed so I added a beam 3mm x 5mm plus 2 extra 2mm x 5mm stris under it, here it is:-
