For those of you who have invested in Mikes upgrade... this is my binnacle build.

The Binnacle comes in 4 parts 3 etch and 1 laser cut wood. Its a massive improvement on the one supplied in the kit, still I have upgraded it a little!!BigGrin

The Binnacle is actually hollow so I decided to remove the two supports in the centre

next I painted the inner facing parts white. while the paint was drying I cut two pieces of clear asertate sheet the same side as the etch faces.

next i carefully painted the black aroung the glass frame so i would not have to do this after construction. once dry the five parts where sandwiched together with some super glue and left in a vice to set.

Once dry I filed the edges smooth and glued the top on. make sure you do this countersink facing down to give you a flat top. when dry I drilled a small hole part way through the top for the chimney. the binnacle is painted black and the chimney added (this will be painted copper later). i am sure you will agre a significant improvement

Thanks mike Cool BigGrin
