Hi all,

Can anyone help me with a issue I have with my gun decks warping. Parts 6a and 6b arrived straight but have warped a little in the last month. I am waiting for the next parts to arrive and have tried to flatten them with weights but this hasnt worked Cursing. Am a little worried that they wont stick to the planking when I go to glue them to those fragile support beams. It is only 1 month till the build up (when everyone goes troppo) and the humidity will go through the roof here in Darwin. I guess I will be having some more issues with warping here in the future but any suggestions now will be most welcome. Big thanks to MWG and z8000783 for their replys regarding the Drydock. Will definately need to build that considering where I am located.Laugh

Cheers

Try dampening them a little and letting them dry under weights for a week or so. I've got the same problem, am thinking of putting some solid blocks of wood under the beams and glued to the deck below; then nail. Might work so long as those parts can't be seen. Hope that helps.

That is a way to go. Another is to dampen and place between two pieces of glass, with weight on top. Reasonable size books do wonders. Does the trick for most warps.

Don't forget to store them in an ambient room as temperature change will warp wood.

+hi there, yep we had this trouble as well,I suspect the ply is near green wood(not been seasoned long enough)I had an old glass computer table so used the plate glass fron that, and laid all wood ply pieces under it untill I came to use them, that way they were flat I damped them down first and left them for about 48 hrs.worked for me.good luck.

I have the same problem. I have followed all the steps but within a few days of taking them from under the weights- hey presto they are warped again. Am thinking I will need to reinforce the beams in order to provide a more stable fixing.

It does seem these problems go in batches so when one gets them we all get them. I asked for a replacement issue but I bet that will also be warped

Hi,try to keep them under the weights til you are ready to use them, when they are fixed to the bulkheads the warping should stop
