Hi, So a year after this collection came out I'm at long last able to make a start. With a pile of 51 issues waiting for me I've got a bit of catching up to do!!! So after watching Leeds lose Challenge Cup Final I decided to cheer my self up and make a start by working my way through issue 1. Cheers Phil,

rember part 16A for the top of frame 16 is a very weak part but ok when you glue the deck on as you have all the parts i would advise doing this section all to geather

Hi Phil, Looking good, will you screw the ship down on a straight board to stop any twisting of the frame? Hi Mike, Yes I'm going to screw it to a board when it comes to the bow and stern sections as I can't see it twisting at the moment because of it's flat shape...... but then again...... Cheers Phil,

Hi, Well I have to say that I'm enjoying this build - it's going together a treat at the moment with only one issue encountered so far - the fragile state of beam 16a - thanks goes to willie for his timely reminder From what I can gather this has been designed to suit R/C components? as I'm building a static version I have no need for this so I went down the obvious route and just simply strengthened this beam up by using the two semi circle profiles left on the fret. before playing around with that though I finished of issue 4, as you can see from the pic I had that rare thing coming through the window......sun!! Cheers Phil,

Hi, Since my last up date I have worked my way through the issues and I’m now on issue 22 which starts the planking phase of the build. In the end I decided against screwing the hull to a board simply because as I have the parts I was able to add all of the supports within a couple of days instead of having to wait for several weeks during which time the bow and stern section may have twisted. I know that I’m behind most people on this build but I’m well aware that there are those that have yet to start so I throught that I’d offer my opinion on the build so far. Firstly the positioning of the two support panels (26a) supplied in issue 8 wasn’t made clear in the instructions but thanks to Colin’s (formally Zeptrader of course) excellent blog I was able to position them correctly which is following the profile of frame 26 and not sitting back from the frames edge as you might expect to avoid blocking the slot in the frame. Next came a problem with aligning with the sub assembly built in issue 12 with the wall piece 75 supplied with issue 13. The instructions note in issue 17 that the wall piece (forms the back panel) should be flush with the top of the sub assembly and there are plenty of supplied photos to demonstrate this, but in fact there is a 1mm or so difference - does this matter? Well no one knows as the parts that are related to this area have yet to be supplied (collection currently on issue 53) so it’s a case of either wait and see or as many other builders on various forums have done - take a best guess. Some builders have chosen to sand the roof down others to raise the wall piece - personally I’ve chosen to leave it as it is, because if I have to at a later date I can always sand the roof but I can’t lower the wall piece - time will tell if I‘ve made the right choice!!!! Issue 20’s infamous missing spacer pieces (103), just in case you aren’t aware of it are supplied with issue 24. And finally…….. deck 112 supplied in issue 21 will need to have its end tab sanded down before it can be installed. Apart from those points all of the supplied parts have gone together well with no issues with warping etc. And for the most part the instructions have been well set out and easy to follow. Here’s how she looks after the first 21 issues…….. Onto the planking then…………………………. Thanks Phil,
