the wife found the mags, so i've started building. not much to show yet, but i've put up a couple of pics. tomick, the planking wood seems much harder than that used for the actual victory magazine, is it a different wood? i am not complaining, i just wondered if it was different. the wood has a nice rounded edge to it which is going to give a nice effect when finished. initially i was going to paint this, but the planks also have such a variety of colour i think it will look good with just a light varnish, however it would be great to see some finished pictures (rather than the cheap horrible plasticky ones in the flyer) so that we could decide wether to paint or stain. here are the very boring pics. saintsman123 attached the following image(s): Come on you Jimmies

no pics as i've had a few camera problems. i've got it planked up to issue 128, so that's planking inside and out, i'm currently working on the riders, parts 13 and 14 abcd etc. on completing the hold planking, issue 128 steps 1-4, you have to cut out some slots on a 1mm x 6mm plank, this plank is similar to some of the victory planks in so much as it is two .5mm planks glud together. this actually makes cutting the slots easier, as it reduces the chance of splitting the plank. step 3 suggests making a mirror image, but i found that if you use both the jigs and mark your slots using the numbers facing you then cut the slots, but then use the opposite plank to fit to the hold you end up gluing on the pencil side, so no pencil marks show. that sounds a bit complicated especially with no pictures, but if you have the magazine then i'm sure you will understand.......i hope hopefully i'll be able to hijack one of my kids phones/camera soon. Hi Bob, did you use the 2mm planking at the start, which produces a 0.5mm step between the previous 1.5mm planking and that laid at step 1 which isn't shown, nor is the 0.5mm step shown against the rider later on.

I agree, the steps do not say to trim the riders to accomodate the 0.5mm step created by the 2mm planks added in the first step, yet this needs to be done and good that you pointed it out for those following. I think the cross-section is going to turn out a very nice display item, which can be displayed in its base or flat aaginst a wall which is an idea MWG came up with.

still no pics, just an update. not a lot has been done on the model due to a bit of an accident with a craft knife. some super glue got on the handle so when i placed it down on the table it stuck blade side up. as i've mentioned bfore i have a problem with my hands, one of the problems with my right hand is lack of feeling, so i had no idea that i had actually been leaning on the knife blade until my dog came over and started licking the blood. so a quick trip to the docs and a couple of stitches later means i've can't do anything for a week or so. maybe by then i can get some pics, since i've got my camera back. Come on you Jimmies

thanks tom it has been a bit frustrating, but i should be making a start again quite soon. from what i have done so far, and looking at the mags and your diary, it is a great model to do weekly. unlike the bigger partworks where there can be lots of stop/start modelling, this build has something do do every week and you notice a difference at every stage. hope that made sense.
