Next stage was to attach the mainsail. Decision had to made here as to how the sails should be presented, whether furled, partially furled or fully opened. The person this ship is going to finally decided he wants all the sails to be fully opened and has asked that the sails look as if they are billowing. Giving the appearance of wind in the sails will be carried out much later but for now I just concentrated on the fitting. First step was to lash the sail to the yard, quite a straight forward process. Made up the parrel and attached one end to the yard, wrapped it around the mast and secured the other end to the yard ensuring the parrel trucks were facing the right way. Made up and attached the halyards, securing the lower ends to eyebolts set in the deck after threading it through the bit. Tensioned this after fitting the other end to the yard. Moved onto fitting the lifts on both sides, securing these to the middle belay pin in front of the mast. Attached blocks to the forward shroud then fitted the mainsheets, these were secured to the belay pin on the bulwark, port and starboard. Finished fitting the sail by fitting the port and starboard brace tied off to the rear belay pins on the upper quarterdeck. Last item for the sail was to fit the sheets, these were left loose. Added some rope coils to the decks and some of the used belay pins just to give that finishing touch. Finally added some more bling and this brought issue 124 to a close. That looks amazing, Alan. She is really coming together now. The sail does hide some of the detail though. Will have to think about how I want to do that when I get to that stage. Looking awesome, spent a good chunk of my lunch break today scrolling through all the pages of your build. I can't wait to get beyond the planking phase I'm soon to start and into the details of this build. Current DeAgostini Model Space Builds:

My advice to you would be to read everything twice and make sure you fully understand what is required for each stage of the build before doing any of the work... Take your time, there's lots to do and patience is key. Do this and I'm sure you'll end up with a build you can be proud of.... I'll be following... Regards Alan

Thanks Ant, appreciate your kind comments....  Started stage 125 with the adding of more belay pins onto the bulwarks followed by fitting additional eyebolts onto the quarterdeck, this was quite a fiddly process due to lack of space. Attached the Topsail and Topgallant sails to their spars in preparation of fitting to the mainmast. Made up the halyards and collars, fitting them to the eyebolts previously fitted, again a fiddly process but got there in the end. Attached the Topsail to the mast, Halyards were then fed up through the tops, over the mast caps, back down to and attached to the spars. Have to say one or two expletives were expressed from time to time while doing this. Moved onto fitting the lifts securing to the belay pins on the rack in front of the mainmast. Had to attach additional blocks to the shrouds in order to fit the braces and sheets, securing to the belay pins fitted onto the bulwarks. Once this was done for the Topsail moved on and fitted the Topgallant sail in the same way. Stage 125 now complete, now to get on with stage 126. Happy modelling all…. It really is a stunning piece of work Alan  You mentioned that it will be going to a new home, is this a family member or have you sold it? Either way Im sure they are going to be over the moon with the finished result.

Once again guys, thanks to all who looked in and passed their kind comments, much appreciated.... @Dave, I love building these ships but unfortunately I don't have the room to display them so this one is going to go to a colleague who has a display area within his lounge, a display area that will do it justice... .
