BigGrin Hi Kev
the Akagi kit is being built as a refrence/comparison to the deag partwork with the plans i also have i can cross reference everything so its built right or how i want it to look, that being as close as possible to the real Akagi.
As for the Shinano she was a sister ship to the Yamato so all thats left to build out the 3 is the Mushashi.
I do enjoy plastic kits but they have to be something that grabs nowadays rather than the old build anything mentality, thanks again for looking in your inputs always apreaciated

Hi Andy!
You are very lucky, I think. These etch parts are always sold out when we want to buy them in Japan. I am looking forward your sending photos of the building the Akagi's bridge.

BigGrin Hi Yaturo
I got this etch set from China like the decks etch set also and both are on Ebay so a little closer to home for you.I think there might have been a mistake in the packaging aswell as i have 2 full sets of etch so i might build 2 using the kit parts aswell and see what 1 looks best

BigGrin Hi All
This morning there was a knock on the door and hey presto the deck etch kitDrool Drool has finaly arrived from china, this is the Flyhawk set comprising of five bags with upper and lower main deck and then the cross braces and supports for the underneath also some crew sponsons and support beams, the only thing iv noticed that isn't provided is the bow support girders as the ones in the kit are for the stern only not sure why but hey ho upwards and onwards.
First impresions when opening the set was WOWLove the detail and crispness of the etch is something to behold I realy think im going to enjoy putting this together although I think there will be some challenging moments on the wayBlink .As always all comments /questions are welcome
regards
AndyCool

PS I think you could do a build diary all of its own on this setLOL

BigGrin Hi Budgie
Thanks for looking in and your kind words, yes its 1/700 scale and quite challenging at times but also gives a sence of achievement as it goes together. Unfortunatly I need to wear optivisors now for work like this unlike a few years backLOL
regards
AndyCool

PS Here's a pic with a penny to show scale a little better

Hi Andy,

Looks a great kit & good luck with that PE, even with my Optivisor I think I would struggle with that scale. 1/35 is a challenge these days! Blushing

Look forward to your updates.

BigGrin Hi All
I have finally finished [ very large sigh of reliefLOL ]all the support girders on the underneath of the etch deck, the crane has been fixed in position as have the two crane operator platforms. All the side deck crew pods have also been fixed and its now at the painting stage.
The support girders for the deck still need to be made up and the arrester gear for the decks has still to be fitted as have a few other small pieces of etch.
Would I do another etch deck like this you may ask and I would reply yes, at times it was a pain but when you see the results its far better than a moulded plastic deck, judge for yourselves sorry about some of the pic quality and as usual all comments/questions are welcome
