Hi Everyone! Does anybody know of a supplier of 1mm cannon balls? (damn this 1/100 scale!) I've found a few suppliers of 2mm and upward but not the smaller ones I need. Happy building to all First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

Why not make your own, 1mm Ball Bearings are readily available. Then you can Blacken them. I've just blackened the Cannon Balls supplied with the Victory X-Section successfully. The poorer the steel the better they will coat so buy the cheapest you can find and not Stainless.

Another Idea, you can also buy Silicon Nitride Ball Bearings which are black ceramic.

Thanks for that CO I was wondering if ball bearings went down to 1mm, I'll look into that as soon as I can. Its strange how some metals react to 'blackening' and others don't. I tried some of the brass chain that came with the Del Prado kit (for the rudder retaining chain) in some of my gun-blueing gel and it went a beautiful iron blue-grey which will be perfect, when I tried the brass wire that I've been making the gun tackle rings from it had no effect at all - rats! I was hoping to avoid having to paint them all!! Thanks again for that tip! Hi again, A lot of Brass and Copper is coated to stop it tarnishing or has grease residue from the manufacturing and this will block the process, I had the same problem with the Brass trunnion caps on the SOTS cannons, which were totally unaffected until I cleaned them in IPA.
