Very nice start to the painting. I use the same wash on mine. It works wonders. Stunning work so far sir! Looking forward to seeing the build continue. Have a good holiday.

Hello John,
As UH has said, a great start to the painting and a very good finish so far!! I note that you use 'odourless white spirit' in your painting process and I know you said that you are a painter. I use Windsor & Newton's 'Sansodor' Low Odour Solvent in my oil paintings and their fast drying 'Alkyd' oil paints. Is the odourless white spirit that you use a proper artists' product or just a standard off the shelf spirit? I only ask as white spirit can often 'Matt' down oil paints, whereas a dedicated artists solvent is specially made for the oil paints and doesn't have the same effect, though I don't suppose it will matter really as you will have to apply a final all over matt finish at the end of the painting process anyway?
Have a nice holiday and I'll look forward to the next update - well done on the build so far!!

Kev I use an artist's product here in Canada made by Demco called Taltine, an odourless solvent. It does dry with a matt finish, at least on canvas, but when I apply gloss Future it brings the oil paint back to life. This gloss helps with decals and with future washes.
all the best John

Jase Thanks for looking in. Now I've got to the gloss stage to apply decals and some oil based weathering. I've also installed the wheels etc but I like to leave the sprockets unglued so that I can more easily attach the tracks. I also only weather the running gear when the tracks are installed so that everything looks uniform. John

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. I'm thinking I might add this beast into a small dio. I've been playing around with some figures and some possible arrangements. I have come up with this. I hope it can work, anyway it will keep me busy into the new year. I wish everyone a terrific holiday season and plenty of modelling in the new year. John

Everyone Thanks for all the wonderful encouragement. I've started to construct the Dio base for this model and to paint the first two figures. This is all a bit of a learning exercise since its my first stab at a small dio. I am going for three level with a river edge at the lower right front. Also this is my current thinking for positioning the figures. More to come between digging out from our first snowstorm of the season. Just 2 feet in 12 hours. John

I have just about finished the painting of the first two figures. Pretty much OOB, I just added a strap to the commander's binoculars. I also finished the basic weathering on the Sig 33. I used some oils, burnt umber pigment and some pastels. I'm still working on the base, and will post some piccies when I can. John
