One heck of a plastic kit release, weighing in at 7kgs, 1/200 scale (1265mm long, 181mm beam) and features a one-piece hull, so is great for R/C conversion!

This new kit features - single-piece main deck with engraved plank texture, highly detailed multi-layer superstructure, foredeck breakwaters, fully represented weapon suite (15 inch main battery, 5.9 inch secondary battery and anti-aircraft guns, 4.1 inch, 37mm and 20mm), gun directors and range finders, Arado Ar 196 seaplane, excellent ship’s boat, cranes, double-ended catapult, filigree hull and deck fittings, cable reels, life rafts, fine upper masts & yard arms, clear-molded searchlights, brass anchor chain and photo-etch parts (vertical and inclined ladders, accommodation ladders, radar antenna, search light frames, platform details, vent and skylight panels, depth charge racks, foot rails, turret and AA gun fine accents, catwalks, catapult cover plates, funnel grille, seaplane canopy frame, boat details, crane pulleys with cable, etc.) Also includes accurately reproduced 15 inch main gun turret and barbette with detailed interior and turned metal gun barrels.
The colour painting guide illustrates Baltic camouflage (port and starboard profiles with overhead plan view) and decals representing aircraft insignia, deck air recognition markings and Kriegsmarine battle flags.

Kit includes many photo-etched parts and containsover 1700 parts. RRP is £199.99 though is already being discounted at around the £175 mark

As a bonus, the kit also includes an accurately reproduced 15" main gun turret and barbette with detailed interior and turned metal gun barrels, (Its thought that this bonus will not be included in future production runs).

An upgrade set is also available, which includes aluminium gun barrels, metal propellers & anchors and also plastic gun breeches. RRP is £24.99 which is being discounted to around the £22 mark.

Not as yet, but who knows, a Hood may well appear in the future.

Just wait until the aftermarket get stuck into it with a heap of upgrades..

Mr T, you're a bad influenceLOL LOL. I've just bought this kit on Ebay for £187 including the enhancement pack.
Now all I need to do is get it into my Den without 'her' seeing it and work out where on earth I'm going to put it.

There is a hood at 1:350 scale and is probably best Hood kit on market currently I have it and half way through build its extremely accurate as they worked with the Hood association. it also has an upgrade set for metal barrels and brass propels

think the bismarck kit is going to be a must for me as my grandfather was on a destroyer with Hood when it sunk and his brother on KG5 when Bismarck sunkCool

BigGrin Great looking piece of kit

Confused Check out the decals are the swastikas correctConfused
doesn't look complete i appreciate that the deck swastikas will
have parts sat on them but the flags are not the full swastika
(i think)

or is this due to "political correctiveness"
(but as i have picked up that the swastika is an Egyption symbol of peace)
Apoligies for being pernikety as it is not cheap to buy

Yeah, I spotted that, I'm no expert on the Kreigsmarine, but I've never seen Ensigns with swastikas like that before, if it's some S.Korean PC stuff going on, then why include themConfused. Perhaps someone can enlighten usConfused Confused

Since 1945 the Swastika has been banned in Germany, where symbols, songs, pictures, slogans and even greetings associated with the Hitler era can earn the offender a stiff fine or even a prison term. It is also banned from other countries, France is one.

Some websites will display a model bearing such markings but by law they must edit the images to block or remove them...usually these sites are based in those places where it is illegal to display said markings.

Various manufacturers split the Swastika into two halves so they can be joined, it could also be that in this instance the Swastika has been made not to look quite like a Swastika, because ultimately certain parts of the world be prohibted from buying, such as Germany/France.

That would explain it, thanks Mr T. I guess this kit would be popular in Germany. I've had a look at the ones pictured as supplied with the kit and they are missing the swastikas completely. Just a bare white disc.

Same reason why Hachette opted not to include the Swastika for the Bismarck series

Eduard, White Ensign, Artwox, Pontos Model, Blue Ridge Models & North Star Models are all about to release enhancements. As well as the KA and GPM(Poland) sets already released. This could become very expensive.Crying Crying
