Hmmm...i seem to recall the government at the time and these F-111's which were supposed/promised to come in at such and such a price just about wiped out the British Aircraft industry and the great TSR2 many years ago. Funnily enough, the F-111's price spiralled onwards and upwards, and we ended up with...re-engined phantoms. Result.....
