Channel 4 Monday 8pm - Based on his journals, this programme recreates the historic battle of 1805 from the perspective of William Beatty, the Surgeon aboard HMS Victory.

And following at 9pm - A time team special following archaeologists as they excavate the cemetery in a field beside Nelson's hospial - A Royal Navy institution located near portsmouth dockyard at Haslar that was built in the 18th century and closed its doors in 2009.

I know what you mean, mine will probably fit in viewing it between Casualty and Holby City. Mind you, shouldn't complain these are key boat building slots when I can escape the telly!BigGrin

For those of you who might want to find out more about William Beatty following the programme, he wrote 'The Death of Lord Nelson' in 1807 only two years after Trafalgar. I have an electronic copy of the book from the Gutenberg Project website. The Death of Lord Nelson

For those of you with an iphone you can get an app called 'Free Books' which allows you to download Gutenberg project books and search for the book on there.

The book provides a fascinating account of the events immediately leading up to the battle and the tragic aftermath.
