I have no Idea Mike, if I was hiding something then I wouldn't be here now, as I have made no secret or tried to hide from anyone. Yes I was Jack Sparrow, I stopped posting for a long while as me and wooden ships didnt see eye to eye, and when I did return my account was suspended. I opened another and got in trouble for having 2. I spoke to admin and Tomick and I am here. I have not been abusive or insulting to any member on here at any point. I am sure if I was not welcome then Tomick and admin would not have let me back. My builds do give me away! As for the Hayabusa, I am a member of the owners club and own a 99 model my self, which this model represents, (there are 4 other colour schemes if you dont like gold) and I have a 1:12 Tamiya build underway. This one would be fantastic at 1:4 scale, and super detailing it would be a dream as I know people in the trade who would supply braided hoses and carbon parts, and I am sure I could get a scale Harris exhaust made via someone who works there!!!

Hi Jack what happened to the Victory and the Black pearl you were building? Mike MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

I still have those builds Mike. All sat in a cupboard gathering dust!! I am not sure what to do yet, the Vic I cancelled so I will probably never finish it, and both black pearls are complete kits plus loads of extras, but if I ever get round to building them is another thing. Did toy with selling the lot at one time, but you never know, I might give them another go!!

Interesting how they arrived at the Hayabusa name....
"Hayabusa" is Japanese for "peregrine falcon", a bird that often serves as a metaphor for speed due to its vertical hunting dive, the fastest of any bird. In particular, the choice of name was made because the peregrine falcon preys on Blackbirds, which reflected the intent of the original Hayabusa to unseat the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird as the world's fastest production motorcycle. The Busa manages to surpass the Blackbird by at least 10mph (16km/h).
What's the top speed Nem 195mph?

I find that incredibly interesting Tom, thanks for sharing and I particularly love the thing about Suzukis' Peregrine preying on Hondas' Blackbird!! They really gave the naming of the Hayabusa some thought by the sound of it?? Good stuff!!

The name was a joke on Suzuki's part aimed at Honda, The falcon eats Blackbirds!!!! The Hayabusa still holds the record for the fastest production bike, being the first to be designed in a wind tunnel with the rider. The early models are capable of over 200mph. But the major manufacturers were worried that countries would start to ban imports due to the speeds, so in 2000-2001 they came to a gentleman's agreement that all bikes would be restricted to 187mph. All bikes can be modified but it does affect any warranty and insurance. Mine is the pre restriction model and is played with!! K&N air filter with modified airbox, Power Commander to map injection and ignition, Remus exhaust system. On a rolling road produces 187bhp at the back wheel and 97lb ft of torque. 0-60 in 2.1sec (75mph in first gear, 6 speed box) and a top speed of 238mph. Faster than most F1 cars. I have a new stroked crank to fit this year which should take it over the 200bhp barrier.

Interesting stuff, seems you have a real beasty there. I used to be a biker until 'er indoors' took that pleasure away Last bike I had was a Kawasaki Gpz900r when they first came on the scene back in 84 which was the first prod bike to exceed 150mph, god knows how you hold onto yours at 200!

Cracking bike the GPZ 900!! I had one! They are very collectable now. Its easy to hold on too on a rolling road!! Wouldnt even attempt it on our roads. A few of us are going to Germany so I may find out!!!
