Greetings all,
I have just purchased the first installment of the McLaren and anxiously awaiting delivery.
During my hours of internet research prior to committing, I found a few pictures of carbon fiber decals for the suspension arms and such. I would be very curious to learn about possible enhancements to this model and have some ideas before starting construction.
It would be nice to find a scale driver and set up an "action" diorama rather than a static display.
Looking forward to soon be building along side you all.

Hello SteamPhyst and welcome to the forum.
The McLaren is a great model and I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely once everything arrives and you start building? With regards to enhancements, just check out some of the other McLaren build diaries on here as there have been some great ideas from others who have now completed their builds. There is a guy who produces some very nice driver figures in the same scale as this model, I'll try to find the link and post it up here for you, they are very nice, though they are not cheap!
If you need any advice during your build there will always be somebody on here with the answers - just ask!!
Kev

Thanks for the welcome and gentle nudge to the past builds.
Kev, your build was fantastic and I look forward to attempting the same heat treated look of the exhaust pipes. I have gone ahead and placed my order for the full set of decals from hobby link japan (currently on back-order).

Thanks for the compliment SteamPhyst, very much appreciated and glad you like my work!!
I have a few more enhancements that I am working on when I get the time. Nothing major, just subtle changes and small additions that add a little extra to the model. Good luck with the heat staining of your exhaust and hopefully you will post some pictures of your build when you get started?
Kind regards,
Kev

I have gotten a lot of inspiration from the work I have seen here, especially Kevin and Spencer. Spencer, you showed some great tips that go a long way to make an already fantastic model truly stand apart, valve cover nuts come to mind.
I'm hoping between a few of the folks here there might already exist some digital reference photos of the actual car, especially under the body. I really like the way Spencer's car (#3) is coming out. Blows me away how much difference a few scraps of wire and masking tape painted black can do for a model (trans axle).
The one thing I am noticing as I read and get ready for my build, very little on the topic of photo etched parts
