Hi Alan!
Very nice planking, well done! I think it will be better to cover the deck when you have to go on with the hull planking/sanding.

Regards, Bernd

Hi Bernd, thank you for the very nice comment... Once I have finished the deck and gave it a coat of matt varnish then I think I will follow your advice and cover the deck for protection, at least until the planking/sanding phase is complete.... Cool Cool Thanks again, very much appreciated.... BigGrin BigGrin

Looks stunning certainly rewarding the time and effort spent Cool

Thanks for the encouraging comments Jase, appreciate your input... BigGrin .. Has been a slow process but really like the way it has turned out... Cool .. I was trying to get a worn look to the deck, not so much a weathered look but a deck that looked as if it had been well used but very well maintained... Think I have achieved my aim..... Coming on really well there Alan, all those ups and downs in the deck levels must be a nightmare to plank out! Blink

Thanks for that fab comment Mike, very much appreciated... BigGrin BigGrin .. Loving this little kit and so far have encountered little problem in relation to the parts or the instructions, apart from the thin mahogany strips being very brittle..... Cool Cool .. Will soon be embarking on the planking which should be quite interesting.... Thanks again for looking in...

While waiting for filler to dry on the SOTS thought I would turn my hand to the SF.... Finished the planking on the stern section and trimmed the edges. Only have to finish cutting out the hole for the helm, a task for later..... Cool Cool . Build may take a little bit of a back seat for a while as the next stage of the SOTS involves quite a lot of work. May come back to the SF just to give a break from all the port cutting.... BigGrin BigGrin

Alan

Really nice job. I think the chevron planking on the stern of this model really makes it stand outLove

Hi Derek, thanks for the encouraging comments... Cool Cool .. The chevron planking wasn't too difficult actually, simply cut the ends of the planks to 45 degrees using a razor saw and mitre jig, lightly sand the cut edges to remove any imperfections and test fitted dry before gluing with alphatic glue... BigGrin BigGrin ..

Alan
