Hi
Jay's the name.
First I want to say, greetings from Ireland and hope to have many discussions about the build of hms sovereign, and gather some advice would greatly be appreciated. Assistance ( where I can give it too).
I'm a keen tall ship modeller. With a couple of builds done, and currently on issue 30 of the sovereign.
Enough about me now.
My query so far if anyone could help?
Is.
I'm considering putting LED lighting within the hull so it looks lit up inside. Possibly on the upper deck too once in place.
But am just weary of where to lay wires/ LEDs etc as I wouldn't want where I position them to interfere with wood to come etc.
any ideas?

 Hi Jay Welcome to the forum, there are a few people adding lighting to there builds in the victory sovereign and titanic builds on here so plenty of scope for idea's and advice regards Andy  Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Welcome to the forum, Jay.
There is lots of experience to draw on here, on the SOTS pages but also on the Victory builds.
My personal view on lighting the ship is, don't overdo it.
The model is presented with all gunports open and guns hauled out, ready to fire.
If she was about to enter battle at night or at dusk/dawn, she would not have been lit up like a christmas tree - an easy alert for the enemy.
Maybe some very low lighting on the gun decks and the captain's cabin. These would have been shielded lights, especially on the gundecks where an open flame would have been very dangerous.
I am not decided yet but I may drill a few random holes in the dummy gun supports, then cover with some tissue paper on the inside. A cream or yellow paper would give the right colour of light and then you can just use standard white LEDs.
Before you start planking the hull, you need to decide where the power supply lead will emerge from the boat.
I am going for a display option that uses two stainless steel bolts through the keel, covered with brass tube, down to the mounting base. The tube over the bolts would conceal a wire or two.

Thanks for the welcome capt. Some seriously nice work you've done. Thanks for the advice on the LED lighting. I'd say with her 100 gun armament she was a force to be reckoned with. Have some of the cabeling done, might leave the lighting on her but put a switch on as to have the option of turning lights on/off temporarily. Regards Jay
