Hi Martyn,BigGrin
Not sure which issue you are up to, but I have not started the upper planking yet,so I looked at MrT`s official build and from what I can see there are several tapered planks to bring the top edge of the planks in the centre of the ship down to a lower level. From the angle of your pics I can`t see any tapered planks, that may be your problem.
I would suggest you stop for a short while until one of the more experienced builders may be able to give you the required help needed.

Sorry I can`t help any more than that, but I`m sure it can be put right.

Regards

Hi, i believe they are sanded to the tip of the ribs in that middle section, though not for all the ribs, but there will be measurements to follow so unless you want to follow the italian instructions its probably best to wait for issue 35 :)

Might be the angle of the photo, but your top planks don't appear to be tapered as per the Issue 33 steps, and there is more planking to add to the top planking in 34. None of the planking is smoothed/lowered in 33 other than blending of the tapered planks onto the previous planks.

How many planks should be at rib 2 before we start adding the short plank sections as described in Tomicks latest addition to the build diary?

I have 9 which looks correct at the bow but looking at the planks added by Tomick which go all the way to the top of rib 13 ( I think) I am 2 planks short at the stern !

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

By the end of Issue 33, you should have 8 rows up frame #2 from the bowsprit deck, the 9th row is placed at the start of Issue 34, where you add a further 3 rows = 11 in total, and the 11th row at frame #2 being the start of the short sections, the first of which stops just before frame 13, where by this point you should have 3 planks above the top of frame 13.

The height at frame 2 will slightly vary from build to build.

You need to bear in mind that there is a tapered plank laid in 33 which does not reach as far as frame #2, but it does run full width across frame #13, where above this two further planks are fitted in 34.

The overall height of the top planking from end to end will be reduced in height to form the final step levels in Issue 35, by the end of 34 they are only approximate and on the plus side to allow them to be cut down to the final heights in 35.

The planking height at frame #2 from the bowsprit deck needs to be a minimum of 53mm which is noted in 35.

Hope this helps..
