Hi All. Some time ago I used a photograph of my ex-employer's father; William Ellis Archibald Daw's WW1 naval career as a question in the military quiz. A couple of weeks ago we found a stack of old letters belonging to this young man, as well as finding out that he served on two Q-Ships, not just the one as we thought, as well as the HMS Marshal Soult (a Big Gun Monitor) he also served on the HMS Auricula (a Flower Class Escort Sloop, NOT to be confused with the later WW2 Flower Class Corvette) and from there his last posting was to guess what! the HMS Victory! Pictured below is his copy of the Admiralty Instruction, ordering him to report there in March 1918. It's nice to find these little bits of Victory history! Robin Plymouth57 attached the following image(s): First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

Thats fab, its really interesting when you can find out about your families history where they were what they did. My Grandfather also served on victory as a new recruits instructor he used to do rigging training. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
