Hi Martyn A good idea is to spray the hull with a coat of grey undercoat [ or similar] 1st then when you start sanding this will show up quickly any high/low spots you may have on the hull. The high spots are just sanded back whilst any low spots can be filled . As for the PVA sealer I don't think it will make that much difference but its up to you. Hope this helps regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

What I do with period ships is sand smooth fill any inperfections with ronseal wood filler (I do not use PVA to cover as it does not sand easily) when I am happy with the smoothness of the hull I then seal the hull with sanding sealer, then I find the second layer of planks fixes spot on. Aliphatic adhesive I find is much better suited to period ship builds as it sands easily. The above is what I do other modellers will also have a system that works for them, I hope that helps Kind regards Mike MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

what i've done is brush some watered down pva glue on the inside of the hull just for the sake of reinforcement, also added some thin strips of wood in certain places, but for the outside i dont think theres much need, it might effect the way you glue the 2nd layer on the hull, but i've also done as andy suggests, its a good idea :) Processing - Progressing
