Hey all,
Got to the stage of making the cannons.
The instructions(which are pants btw) say to nail on the brackets with the pins provided. But, I'm having real issues
A: Holding the brackets in place whilst trying to nail them on. Because they are so small :(
B: The nails are so long that they are splitting the wood on the carriages as you push them in.

Any pro tips you guys can throw my way would be soooooooooo, oooooooooo appreciated. :D

Pleading for help...

Mike.

I usually drill holes slightly larger than the pin about 5mm deep using the bracket as a template.Once you have drilled one hole you can drop a pin in it to stop the bracket from moving.Cut the pins to about 4mm long with some cutters. You will be able to drop thick cyano in the whole, you dont need much and assemble. This avoids any risk of damaging the carriage.

Seconded!
That's exactly what I do. In any situation where you are fixing a metal piece to a bit of thin wood it's nearly always best to drill and glue instead of hammering in.
Best of Luck.
