It seems there has been nothing but trouble with this aircraft for our purposes from the outset..

It just goes on and on! The brand new AEW Nimrods could always provide protection for the carriers I suppose, Oh! hold on, didn't the entire fleet of them have some argument with a bulldozer or something! Surely it would be cheaper to simply start up the production line for the Harriers again (or did we give that away to the Yanks as well?) Typical US engineering The Harrier is far superior would make more sense to evolve that aircraft. As for the Nimrod well I worked at Woodford for BAE when the MOD came to visit the first one being produced and without libelling myself lets just say in my view they may not have been anywhere near as ready as the MOD may have thought! - lots of working lights don't make a working aircraft “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

The Aussie government is looking to buy this piece of junk as well. Btw did you know it has to stay a minimum of 25 kms from a thunderstorm!!!
Harrier or the new EU fighter would be much better for Australia, oh and the UK could send us any of their surplus aircraft carriers as well. Specially as we don't actually have one right now.

There have been nothing but problems with this aircraft related to anyone's purposes! It seems to be a complete POS from the word go! Tired, Old, and Cranky!

Certainly does seem unfit for purpose and that other governments are paying the price

I can see another Arms Race or Cold War developing between China and the rest of the world!!
Interesting to read in the earlier post that the aircraft can't land in hot/humid conditions or low pressure conditions or anywhere near a storm!!?
So that means it can't land when it's sunny, OR overcast OR raining OR windy!! Eh? ... so when CAN it land? Hope they carry a lot of fuel!!

It's OK now, the Yanks have got it sorted! They are now to have in flight refuelling with room for two pilots, one male and one female with a third seat behind the baby incubator! No need to land at all now! When you consider the various areas that they will be required to work in if things stay as they are at this point in world politics then they may just as well use paper planes ....or are they too technical...ie they can fly in hot, stormy weather & land on an aircraft carrier Rob Nolli Illigitimi Carborundum!!!Current Builds: HMS Victory, SV Thermopylae
