Thanks Bob. Don't really have the wait problem as I am currently building the D51 and Victory as well - not enough spare hours in a day.

Hi guys, I've got all the cylinders case parts sprayed along with the gun and have started assembling the engine.

I decided to drill all the holes for the spark plugs before assembly so as not to put too much pressure on the assembled engine.

Hi, a little bit more progress. I have drilled the holes in the rocker covers and cut all the rods. The were all degreased in acetone and prepared for priming and spraying.

The contact areas of each rocker cover were masked off with small bits of blu tack.

Well I've made the first boo-boo of the build. Cut all the 19mm & 20mm rods and painted them. Went to fit the first rod/rocker cover and found the rods were too short. Must have drilled the holes in the crank case and/or rocker box to deep.Cursing

Luckily I had decided to fit the rod and associated rocker box in one rather than glue the rods in first as per the instructions and did a test fit first so no glue to try and remove.

I may get away with using some of the 20mm rods in the 19mm positions but will have to replace all the 19mm ones. If I don't have enough spare aluminium rod I can use 1mm brass rod.

This will teach me not to check measurements before cutting.

Hi, just a quick update. have now completed to end of issue 5. Just followed instructions.

I plan on painting all the air frame to date in one session - probably when I have 2 weeks off at Christmas. The only exception may be the firewalls which I will do before installing into the cockpit frame (which will also need to be painted before assembly).

Hi, it's been a while since my last update. I have been working on the zero (and others) and am now complete up to stage 29.

I have made one change to my original plan and have used Tamiya TS-54 instead of the lifecolor blue aotake. This was because I couldn't get the finish I was looking for when spraying the lifecolor (more to do with my not having a lot of experience airbrushing than the paint).

The Tamiya is probably too blue but as I am going for a 'factory finish' and I was happy with the result, I went with it.

Here are a few pics to show progress so far.
