Issue 51 - Contains diecast stern gallery parts.

Remove any burrs from the diecast parts, then prime and paint them gold as indicated.

Instructions are provided in this issue to continue the placement of the rear gallery panel castings, or you can wait and fit the castings as a set when you receive issue 53, where you will then be able to lay them all out to see how they interact with each other and check the fit etc as per the images in this link..

http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=7376

The offical build for 49-53 will only follow the preparation and painting of the castings along with the other build content of these issues.
I will be fitting the rear gallery panel castings at Issue 53.

Remove parts 81 and 82 from the fret provided in Issue 48, glue part 82 onto 81 centrally as shown then set aside for the glue to fully dry.

Shape/round all four sides as shown, then remove parts 83 and 84 from the fret. Glue part 83 onto the marked circle, then glue part 84 on top.

Take the bell housing roof assembled in Issue 49, and glue the roof section just made squarely on top.

Take the finial and brass bell provided in issue 48. Glue the finial onto the roof, then paint the roof gold and the underside stain walnut.

Glue the bell centrally on the underside, then glue the roof onto the upright posts of the previously made bell housing base.

That's it for this stage.

Issue 53 - Contains futher transom fittings, cannonballs and basswood strip.

Remove any burrs from the diecast parts, then prime and paint them as indicated.

If you opted to fit the rear gallery panel castings at this stage, refer to the parts fitting instructions in Issues 50, 51, 52 and in this issue.

Planking of the quarterdeck and forecastle. - If you have not already done so, finish the edges of both decks with a fine graned sanding block levelling the edges with the hull sides, the paint the edge black

If you have a slight shortfall of deck, use sapelle strip to make up the shortfall, then sand and paint black.

Fill and sand the cladded inside walls of the forecastle and quarterdeck, then paint the walls to match the inside of the bulwarks.

Take the 0.6x5x300mm basswood strips provided with Issue 47.

Decide how you wish to calk the planking (the instructions say to use a pencil to make the calk lines after you have laid the planking, but you can use the marker pen method as you plank.

Starting with the forecastle deck, fix the first strip along the middle line, then the rest moving outwards from it. Cutway the excess from the opening and mast hole, and level the planking at the deck edge.

Follow the measurements for making the plank joint lines.

Repeat to fit the planking on the quarterdeck, then apply a coat of clear matt varnish to the deck.

That's it for this stage, carefully store the remaining wooden strip and cannonballs

Issue 54 - Contains diecast lantern parts, window template and a red acetate sheet.

Remove any burrs from the diecast parts. (To allow the brass mesh windows to sit flat, you may need to file the inside of the outer window frames to remove the location lugs from the edge of the frame).

Temporarily fit the lantern on top of top of the transom as shown.

When happy with the fit, remove and paint the lantern castings with gold paint, then highlight the indicated areas of the window and roof castings with black paint.

Take the window templates, and carefully cut out brass mesh window sections to match the templates.

Take the red acetate sheet, remove the protective film from one side, theno cut out the glazed sections to match the templates.

Glue the mesh sections onto the inside of both lantern halves, followed by the red glazed sections. Ensure thay are secure.

Now glue the lantern halves onto the transom, followed by the roof and finial, (I added the finial at the point of painting the roof).

This completes the lantern.

The end if ths stage provides assembly and painting instructions for the two crew figurines provided with Issue 42, which you can complete at this stage, or wait until other figurines are provded and assemble/finish them all together, the latter of which is what I will be doing.

That's it for this stage.

Issue 56 - Contains diecast parts for the right-hand side galleries and a cannon kit.

Issue 57 - Contains further diecast parts for the right-hand side galleries.

Issue 58 - Contains further diecast parts for the right-hand side galleries and two cannon kits.
