BigGrin Hi All
This month's parts include the keel sections which are made of thin hardwood outer surface with a lightply core and the instructions reccomend painting these parts.
As i am doing a minimum paint build i decided to replace these parts with 5 mm Walnut sheet , using the parts as templates they were cut out on my electric fret saw.
The fret saw if your lucky enough to have one will save you a lot of time but its still possible to cut these parts out the old fashioned way.
More soon

Hi Andy, walnut sheeting looks far better than simply painted hardwood/ply parts.... great job in reproducing the replica parts.....

Looking good...

BigGrin Hi All
A little more done but still loads to do as yet.
Today i fitted the Walnut keel parts and then proceeded to fit the rubbing strakes between the decks , no real problems encountered here just make sure the strakes at the front and lower stern are well soaked before using your plank bender to get round the curves. The lower three stern stakes must be bent and twisted so be careful here.
More soon

BigGrin Hi All

More progress on the triny, all the rubbing strips are now compleat on both sides of the hull some tidying up and sanding still needed here also the upper stern hardwood strip has been added above the cannon ports.
Still in the stern area the transom former has been glued in place and more hard wood strip used to fill in the stern bulwark.
At the bow the two latrines have been added after lining with bass strip wood and roofed with hard wood strip along with the two doors and handles.
Finally the holes for the catheads have been made and the catheads made up ready for glueing in position as they are just free floating for now.

More soon.

Regards
