Hello everyone, started this one about 3 nights ago and thought id pop some pics on here. Its going to be part of a large diorama that im planning and will also include the - Tamiya 25 pdr field gun & crew Masterbox tank crew figures Academy "Honey" light tank Tamiya ww2 accessories set All the above to be set in ww2 libya, poss 7th armoured division - have to do some research first. Anyway, the quad looks by far the easiest kit so i thought id start with this. All the kits also have an Eduard PE set as the tamiyas are old kits from the 70's so need the extra detail. I built up the chassis and engine in the first night as there was no PE or painting required up to this point. stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Not sure how to ad text after a pic so i will have to post again - Next pic shows the 1st of the PE coming into use along with the original parts to be replaced. Then showing the PE parts in place, and then after a base spray. The some pics of the engine in place and painted along with the tyres and then a bit of grime on the transmission and engine. Im not going to weather anything else yet,only the greasy parts - all other parts will done with a different shade of wash, probably sandy / brown colour. stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Hi Jase, thanks for looking in, the rust is ak interactive pictured below, apply the rust, let it dry a bit then i dabbed with thinners, you can get all kinds of effects especially on ships if you let it run in streaks with a lot of thinners. Cheers Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

A bit more done on this, I seem to have 3 separate models at the moment, the chassis, the interior and the body shell. I have done some more weathering to the chassis before i fix the interior section to it. The interior is also complete apart from some accessories from a separate kit. The outer shell has all the etch in place and a base spray done, i have also shown the original closed plastic roof cover and the new one created from sheet and pva in the open position, i used the original to clamp the sheet to it whaile it dried. Thanks for the comments, this is now done and have some more pics here, well its not 100% complete, im going to add some baggage to the roof, a piece of wire for the bonnet strut to hold it open and the most obvious missing parts which i have completely forgotten about....the wipers!! - these are etch parts and i couldnt put them on till the weathering masks came off the windows, then i took the pics before i realised. I will put the completed pics in the finished builds gallery at some point. Next kit to go with this for the dio is the 25pdr field gun with crew. Thanks for looking. Hi Thanks for looking, no, i didnt use weathering paints. I just brushed on lots of very thin layers of tamiya sand yellow made into a wash, adding more water to each layer. I do have the vallejo game colour wash set but not used for this model Cheers Steve

Superb build Steve and I love the weathering - it looks like the vehicle has just driven across the North African desert - very nice job mate and can't wait to see the rest of the dio!
