several things i need to mention here,I've wood stained it dark oak, original colour was red mahogany on the outside, looked horrible, and oak on the inside, hence the stain, but I've put it on too thick, wondering if I could remove it, and re-do it in thinner coats.another thing is,they(amati)do not supply a stand,so gonna have to make one, also instructions bad, good job you have a plan,no guidance in planking(where to start)some parts missing, although you get a rigging plan there is no help with which blocks to use (one hole or two)the launch is not the one one box lid.the main instruction are in pics, which miss a lot,two books in spanish or is it italian? and one a4 in english, there is a full parts list in span, italian.no english.very easy to use wrong wood.the chain on the transome I had to find myself not in the kit.every santa maria kit is different, different design on the sides, this one has raised poop deck mounted on beams (weird)the sails are supplied but you have a lot of sewing to do,don't get me wrong here,it is a quality kit, with just minor or niggly faults.I think the trade disscription act would have a field day on the box lid,no stand, wrong launch, and copper door hinges?.different wood for planking.awwwwwwwwwwww well, back to the rigging and sails. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/
