Seeing as no half scale Katana is available I have decided to model my own, based on one of my full size Katana. Not yet finished but I thought I would go public with it to maybe get comment... longblade attached the following image(s):

Very nice idea, a 1/2 scale Katana would be a brilliant addition to the armour.

Very nice bit of scratch building there, will really set the model off when displayed together. An idea for others that want the look without all of the work is to buy the display set of three, dont know the name  , and use the one that most closely fits the scale as a starter for modification. When the Katana is complete, I will post more pix, Then I go on to make its partner, the Wakizashi, because they were always worn in pairs, then the Tanto, carried on the small of the back, like a dagger, though it is a very short bladed sword used in part to take ones own life.!!!!.

Most of the swords have a total length of 21cm which I believe is just about right for our armour builds and there is quite a number of styles available. James Edit take a look at this one chaps http://www.ebay.com/itm/...amp;hash=item4aa60940f0
just right I think. Also the total length of the Katana is 26.5cm I reckon I will be ordering one after the telford model show

Hi James, thanks for the comments, the swords on ebay look good as letter openers, and would make a good display piece,, But, they are only approximately quarter scale, to be half scale it needs to be approx. 50 Cm long with a blade length of about 34 cm. Each Katana would be different, the older the design the straighter and longer the blade and Hilt (handle) . I can give you the dimensions of a half scale if you wish, its not that difficult to produce. With your modelling skills you should have no problem. contact me on my e mail addy if you wish... Bob.

If any member building the armour is interested in including the weaponry in there display, please get back to me. The swords can be produced in either Katana or Tachi style. Any colour. Im sorry but due to the British law on bladed weapons only over 18s may apply.
