Issue 61 - Contains further diecast parts for the left-hand galleries and roof parts.

Continue to fit the left gallery details and paint gold the three roof sections.

Retrieve the four cannons that you assembled in Issues 56, 58 and 59 and also the eyebolts and blocks, plus the wire left over from the pevious assembly sesssions.

Make up the blocks as shown in the instructions. Then fit eyebolts to the blocks with a single loop, and fit the blocks onto to the gun carriages.

Attach the remaining eyebolts to the blocks with the double loops, making sure to choose the loop closest to the hole in the block.

Carefully store the completed blocks and cannons for later use.

Issue 62 - Contains diecast roof parts for the right-hand galleries, side lanterns, decals and wood strip.

Remove any burs from the roof and lantern parts, then paint them gold.

Fit the right side gallery roof parts as shown parts as shown in the instructions.

Take the previously assembled ships boat, the 0.3x1x100mm brass trip provided with Issue 12, the 120mm long dowel that was provided in Issue 13 & anchor assembled in Issue 13, the 0.15mm thread providd in Issue 1, and the bucket and oars completed in Issue 16.

To make the mast clamp for the ships boat, take the brass strip and form it over the down to form the shape shown and cut its overall length to 8mm long.
Glue the clamp centrally, opposite the mast recess cut-out as shown. If you wish you can paint the clamp metallic black.

Cut a 300mm length of the 0.15mm thread, and make a coil of rope that is approx 13mm in diameter as shown. After the glue has set, tie the free end to the anchor.

Glue the rope coil and anchor into the boat, followed by the bucket and oar set.

Thats it for this stage, carefully store the lantern parts, shield decal sheet, wood strip, brass strip and dowel for future use.

Issue 63 - Contains diecast statues and eyebolts.

With pencil and a ruler, mark the dead centre the forward bulkhead.

Take a length of the 0.6x5mm sapele strips that came with the pevious issues, and cut three 22mm lengths.

Fit and glue the three pieces together and onto the forward bulkhead in the central position, following the measurement shown in the Step 5 photo (15mm down from the top). I opted to fit the brass fittings noted below, before gluing the door to the bulkhead.

Take the brass fret that came with Issue 41. Detach the four B11 hinges and the two B12 door decorations from the fret. Superglue the four hinges and the two brass decorations on the door of the forward bulkhead as shown.

Take the six metal columns that came with Issue 47 and the six statues provided with this issue. Use a fine file to remove any burrs, then prime and paint them gold.

Glue the six columns ono the forward bulkhead, arranging three to the right of the door and three to the left. It is very important to follow the spacing measurements as further new components of the bulkhead will be assembled close to the columns.

With a pencil and ruler, mark a horizontal line between the bulkhead columns at 25mm from the top edge of the bulkhead. Then use a 1mm drill bit, to drill four holes on the cross line that you have just marked. The holes should be in the middle of the spaces between the columns.

Enlarge the four holes drilled, first using a 2mm bit and then a 5mm bit. Work delicately and with care. Use a round file to smooth the edges of the four 5mm diameter holes, then paint the inside edge of each, black.

Glue the six statues onto the columns. Position the three pairs of statues symmetrically either side of the door, three to the right and three to the left, in the arrangement shown in instructions.

Take the 1x5x250mm wooden strip that came with Issue 41 and cut four equal segments 15mm long. These pieces will be the step treads of a staircase. From the same strip, cut two segments 18mm long that will form the sides of the staircase.

Draw two diagonal lines at the ends of the, following the measurements shown in the instructions. Then make a cut along each line.
Then mark four parallel lines 1mm apart on each side wall.

Glue the four steps on the lines of a staircase side. The steps must be parallel to one another and at a right angle to the side wall. Glue the second side onto the free end of the step treads, completing the stairs of the forward bulkhead.

Take the 10x350mm dowel that came with Issue 40 and insert it into the bowsprit housing on the bow platform (DO NOT glue it).
Check that the staircase made in the previous steps fits correctly between the bowsprit and the door to the forward bulkhead, then glue the staircase in place.
Remove the dowel and keep it safe for future work sessions.

Take the diecast cleats that came with Issue 41. Remove any burrs and file the bottom flat. Coat them with metal primer and paint them a sapele/wood brown colour.

Glue four cleats on each side of the bow platform as show in the step photo.

Thats it for this stage, carefully store the eyebolts, dowel and the remaining cleat for future use.

Issue 64 - Contains bulwark handrail bases & top rails, wooden strips and diecast decorations.

Cut out the two pieces 97 from the fret These are the lower base strips of the handrails.

Test-fit both of the base strips on bulwark top, on the left and right side of the model. The square holes in the base must align either side of each gun port as shown in step 6. Then stain both lower rails a walnut colour

Take the two strips of 3x3x300mm birch, and stain them a sapele colour. Then cut twenty, 20mm-long pieces from each strip - These pieces will form the upright posts of both handrails, (set 10 posts aside along with a rail base).

Glue ten posts into the holes on the base of the left-hand side rail. Cut both top rails from the fret, then without glue, set a top rail (part 98) on top of the ten posts. Check that the ends of the top rail are about the height of the quarterdeck and forecastle decks. Then stain the top rail a mahogany colour to match the bottom rail. Ten glue the top rail onto the ten posts.

Smooth the top end of the ten posts so that they are all protrude 3mm higher than the top rail, then touch in the post tops with a sapele colour.

Take one of the 1.5x5x300mm strips of birch and stain it a sapele colour.

Insert the strip into one of the holes on the top rail, letting it rest on the base below. Check that it is upright, then cut it flush with the top rail. Then repeat for all the holes in the top rail. Finally, touch in the cut ends with walnut stain.

This completes the bulwark handrail on the left-hand side of the model, repeat the process to complete the handrail on the right side of the model.

Thats it for this stage, carefully store the remaining parts.

Unfortunately a block of build images covering this and following issues have beenn lost from the system, therefore I am using magazine images to show the build involved for the next 8 or so issues

Issue 65 - Contains the poop deck, wooden strips, buckets and deck beams.

Cut the four beam strips from the fret, (you will need three for this stage of assembly).

The beams are supported on the deck suport brackets of the three rib frames indicated by the arrows. Cut the three beam strips to length, then glue them on their respective frames.

Cut the horizontal support from the fret, then glue the piece onto the poop deck in the position, ensure that the horizontal support fits correctly between the rib frames, and that its mast hole aligns with the
corresponding hole on the deck.

Cut the poop deck from the fret and glue it on the beams that you previously fixed on the frames, check that the deck is perfectly centred and that the hole for the mast is aligned with the one in the underlying horizontal support.

Take the three 2 x 5 x 300mm strips of bamboo and smooth them with fine-grained sandpaper, then cut a number of pieces 32mm long. Then cut one of the in half, lengthwise.

Take the two strips just made and glue them to the horizontal support and the poop deck. They should be placed in a vertical position in the recesses of the support and the deck.
Take two more 32mm pieces and shorten them so that they fit, one on each side, against the bulwarks between the horizontal support and the poop deck. Then clad the bulkhead on the forward end of the poop deck, fixing the 32mm pieces of strip next to one another.

When the glue has fully dried, smooth the end of the stripso make them 31mm high, then sand the front face smooth.

Assemble and finish the three buckets as you did previously.

Thats it for this stage, carefully store the remaining parts and buckets.
