UPDATE:SPITFIRE. 060716. REBUILD ENGINE COVER. ADD MORE METAL PLATES TO FUSELAGE. In building the front top engine cover for some reason I put to much pressure when screwing down the top plate which completely smashed the end section as in the first picture.  In this picture you can see were I have rebuilt this section now to add rib's and the metal cover plate.  In these picture you can see that I have moved along the fuselage towards the tailplane, this I have plated port and starboard.   Just a small update this time but more soon. Regards Trev. I use acid etch primer for metal, but I would test it first on some scrap metal in case it has a lacquer coating. I would also degrease it.

Hi Trev! As always i envy your skills and love your build! I have a question concerning the pinheads. They look quite big and i can`t see them on pics of the real thing. Do they stay or are they removed at some point of the building process? I guess they must be inserted because the plates won`t hold otherwise? Greetings,

Hi Trev, I have similar question, I know from your previous pictures that you have used small screws and not pins, why is this? Im nowhere near this part of the build yet but very interested in your thoughts because I will be at some stage. Will adhesive not hold these plates without pinning?
