I have been building model ships for almost 40 years and still enjoy the hobby. I have built sailing ships and warships by the dozen but have never seen a decent merchant ship model offered anywhere in the UK like the 'Bismarck' or the 'Victory.' I am sure there are hundreds of serving or ex merchant mariners as well as plain old ship modelers who would welcome the opportunity to build a model of, for example, an 'A' class Blue Funnel, Victory or Liberty ship in a reasonable scale.

Hi Lindsay. Welcome aboard. Good idea , the merchant ship. I've just finished a 1/350 scale plastic kit of a Liberty ship, the SS John W Brown. It's not a bad little kit. Very detailed. I'll try and post a photo of it. Dave H
Current builds :- Hachette 1/16 Tiger Tank H.M.S Victory, Santisima Trinidad (Section), 1/8 scale Aston Martin DB5, 1/8 scale McLaren, YNWA

Hi Dave Many thanks for the welcome. Although I know my way around a computer I'm new to this message posting stuff. Hope I get it right! The 'John W. Brown' is one of only two left afloat. I've been aboard four Liberties, all Russian, and managed to get the builders plate off one just before she was scrapped on the Clyde. I'd love to see a photo of your model and look forward to it.
