Hi
This is my completed Revell 1/24 scale Trabant 601S. The finished model is not a real representation as the actual car was made from duroplast,a type of recycled plastic created from waste from the Russian cotton industry. So, in reality there was no external rust of these cars. Also, I doubt very much that they were used for taxi's either! So just a bit of fun really. The base is supposed to be a parking space backed onto a pavement but it's a bit obscured with snow nowAngry but the space markers and kerb are still visible.

Sorry of there are too many pics, I couldn't decide which ones to use so just put them all upBigGrin

Hi Steve, BigGrin

Love the finished item. Cool

Reminds me of my old 1959 Ford Prefect 100E.

The Plastic Padding was held together with the thicker bits of rust.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Nice job.

Hi Steve, excellent piece of work and it brings memories flooding back to me. I lived in Germany with my family at the time unification took place and remember travelling down the autobahns and seeing hundreds of these things chugging along.. An unbelievable sight against all the modern day cars on the road at the time..... Icons of the east....Cool Cool .. Very well done....

HI Steve
This is a wonderful diorama. It makes me feel nostalgic because I happened to visit Berlin when the Wall fallen. I saw many Trabants then.
Especially, I am very interested in the realistic representation of "stain" of this car model.
Best Regards,

Great build, have owned a few cars that looked as bad if not worse, the paint was holding the rust together on one...not that there was a lot of paint either!

Hi Steve,

a Trabant can´t rust because it´s body is made of plastic!!!

But doesn´t matter! Great job!

Yes I know, please read my first postBigGrin It was just a bit of fun with with rust effects on a model kit I no longer really wanted to build, a kind of experiment with real rust.
Thanks for looking though
