Quick note for all who are struggling bending planks for the launch...
If you get a piece of paper and hold it on table near edge. Then put your finger over it if you pull it down over the edge you curl the paper... Yes....
The same works for the planks but be gentle. It does work as that is how i did mine. Take it easy on them...On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Magpie, As I now believe I have collected all the info I need on 'plank bending' I would probably have bypassed this thread (even though I try to read everything in this forum), unfortunatly I've seen your Victory launch build and am terified that I could miss something special, I was quite happy to stick a few pieces of wood together, slap on some paint and end up with a reasonable launch! Now I,m having to go back and see if I can clean it up and stick some more bit's on.   black & white so and so . Seriously though, you are obviously an 'El Supremo' in the modeling world and I look forward to seeing your posts! (this from one of your friendly local 'Makum' neighbours, by the way, welcome back to the land of milk & honey "premiership") P.s. where are all the model shops in our area, other than 'Team valley' retail park I haven't found one????????? Most my shopping is done online. It's so much cheaper. Cornwall models or www.onlinehobbysite.com (based in italy but well cheap)

I know there isn't one in Sunderland these days. Thank god for the internet, there was two in North shields near the metro station, S.R GLADSTON 99, Bedford St, North Shields, Tyne and Wear NE29 6QJ Tel: 0191 406 9334. Phills Model Shop 41-42, Nile St, North Shields, Tyne and Wear NE29 0BB Tel: 0191 2728443. I haven't been there for a while so might have gone thanks to the credit crunch. Most model shop in the north east seem to sell trains and plastic models, Modelzone falls into this group. Ok! if you need a craft knife, paint or some glue but no good if you need materials for the ship. I would stick to buying online, it's cheaper than going by car so no tyne tunnel toll, it's quicker than using the metro and you can have a drink! as you shop (GREAT!) As for bending planks so many ways to do it, all have there good points and bad points, just take your time and not to much pressure or snap goes another plank.

Magpie and Son of Bulwark, Thanks for the gen on local shops, your dead right, few and far between and not a lot of useful kit! I've got the odd few bits and pieces from Hobycraft (Team valley) but there's very little for our 'hobby', so I'll carry-on getting stuff off the 'web' as seems to be the best & cheapest way. That 'eye-tie' site has some canny stuff on it, fancy getting some of them cannon's and modifying for the 'Vic'!  P.s Tomick if you are reading this, stop, get back in the shed and start building, I'm having withdrawl symptoms waiting for your official build posts!!! Happy building lad's Jeff
