<RANT>So, it was a lovely evening and I thought I would spend a wonderful couple of hours doing the anchor banding and rope. Tools at the ready, breeze has dropped and glass of Shiraz at my left elbow, let's go. First learned how to do a Fisherman's Bend on the internet, don't bother with the instructions in the magazine, they are useless and I have now learned to tie a knot that I am sure, will be with me the rest of my life.
Now for the banding although the thread looks a bit short and shouldn't it be black and not maroon. No mater, after half an hour, I must say it's not a bad job but....
I check the length left and I only have enough for 1 more band not 3.
I can't believe it, is the cost of thread so wildly expensive in China? I now have to use this length to go buy some more and probably remove the bit I have completed because the colour and thickness will be different. What is wrong with testing 4 lengths and then doubling that, do they not have quality control in China.</RANT>

Hi John Glad to hear you are having fun with your anchor.  Just to add to your entertainment, did you read these early posts regarding the anchor? Getting the Anchor Right You might want to try using an anchor clinch on your main bower anchor. Many of the issues identified by you were tackled back in the days when all we had to play with was one cannon and an anchor!  Mike T

Hi z80000783! You might have started with a nice glass of Shiraz but by the end you'll have been on the hard stuff, Yes!. Thread is in short supply in china thanks to the rag trade.  Time goes quickly when your having fun and Lonestar Spirit is right posting on the forum gets rid of the tension. Have fun with your build, I'm looking forward to you next post.

I thought you might want to see what it looked like finished. Oh, and the anchor of course. Not perfect by any means but really great to get some ideas from here and it looks a lot better than the brass ring. My visitors will never know the difference. I have to wait for my Sister in Law to collect from my flat in London and then post them on. We don't have a name for our house here and so a couple of weeks ago I suggested we call it "Chatham". That's interesting, my wife said, what made you think of that name? When I gave the answer she wasn't impressed. John
