Here is my 1/24 scale Jag XKE, only cost a couple of quid on ebay.

I'll just post the kit pics as there is not much to review, there is a sprue of horrible chrome which I will strip off and re-paint, apart from that a pretty standard Revell kit really.

There is also Felicity Shagwell's Corvette available in this series too!BigGrin

Steve

A nice kit and something of a collectors item now it's out of production. You did well for a couple of quid as I have seen these going for £40 plus.

Have a couple of these and the matching kit in the stash but did find that one stored in the loft has had the decals fall apart. Super scale decal sheets will have to be used.

Best of luck with your build -it's a good one

Tony

Well, 3 years later and only last week did I make a start on this oneBigGrin

I was fully intending to do the Austin powers paint job but as Tony suggested, when I did a decal test they disintegratedMad You can actually see that they are cracked in the pics I took at the start of this post.

So, this is now going to be a rotter as it's been a while since I did one last.

I started a couple of days ago and the pics below are up to date with where I am now. There is a bit of a gap in pics from primer stage to rusted stage as I was having too much fun to take pics but the process is basically as below.

Primer on the chassis is Vallejo red oxide followed by AK rust enamel then AK pigments for texture. Then some detailing with the Vallejo rust range from dark to some spots of orange and lastly some white weathering powder for Aluminium corrosion.

I have a base in progress for this one as well - more very soonLaugh

Thanks for looking in guysBigGrin

A couple more pics, got the engine in position and seats complete with ripsBigGrin

Loads more wethering on the interior to come!

The steering wheel was the only part I didnt strip off the chrome, I just spattered a very low pressure rust colour over it. The wooden rim will be re-painted a better colour.

Bodyshell all done and seams are filled and sanded down, next will be to re-prime and paint.

Im going for a Tranquill blue colour, Jaguar did a pale blue in the 60's, mines a bit darker but who cares as Jaguars policy was that they would paint any colour the customer required.

Thanks guysBigGrin

Got the paint on now and a bit of rust, the rest of the weathering will be with pigments and powders.

Just got the wheels and all the details left now, lights, bumpers, luggage rack, windscreen etc. The final weathering will be after its placed on the base as I need the effects to match up.

The gaps on the doors in the final pic are filled with chrome trim later.

Nearly there on the car, will be working on the base soon. Still to do on the car is the folded roof which I need to have ripped so have cut a hole out and covered it with tissue soaked in pva. I will then be able to create some nice rips once paintedBigGrin

one of the rear bumpers is left off and will end up inside the car along with the batteryBigGrin Various holes will be plugged with tissue or taped up, not sure which yet.

I have also lost one of the rear wheel hub cap things so will have to stick some rust in the hole.

Anyway, a couple of sunny outside pics below along with the state of the roof so far.
