Issue 76 - Contains wooden strips, quarterdeck gunwales and decorations for the left-hand side quarter gallery.
Take the six decorations of the left-hand side quarter gallery, coat them with metal primer, then, paint them gold.
Glue the six decorations at the bottom of the left-hand side quarter gallery, just under the six shields, in the positions shown.
Measure the distance between the handrail and the base of the parapet of the upper quarterdeck at the bulkhead. On our model the distance is 11mm, you may find a small deviation on yours.
Take the 2x5x300mm strip that came with Issue 48. Cut two pieces to the length found previously and then paint them with the black paint.
Glue the two pieces of wood flush with the side edges of the bulkhead that separates the quarterdeck from the upper quarterdeck, placing them in the position shown.
Following the previous steps, glue two pieces of wood cut to size on the side edges of the bulkhead that separates the deck from the quarterdeck.
Remove the two gunwales of the upper quarterdeck from the fret, Paint one face of each piece black, then paint the other face red. Check that the gunwales mirror one another.
Glue the gunwales outside the side parapets of the upper quarterdeck, with the red side facing the interior of the model.
Remove the two the quarterdeck gunwales from the fret. Paint one face of each piece black, and then the other face red. Again, check that the gunwales mirror one another. Fix the gunwales on the outside of the quarterdeck parapets, with the red side facing the interior of the model.
Smooth the 1.5x .5x300mm and 1.5x2x300mm strips that came with this issue with a fine-grained sanding-block to achieve smooth and uniform surfaces.
Glue the 1.5x1.5x300mm strips on the hull, creating a wale. The upper edge of the strips should be flush with the edge of the part of the hull painted black. In particular, note that the last strip towards the stern continues beyond the frame of the first gallery.
With the 1.5x 2x300mm strips, make two more wales 17 and 23mm from the first. Before fixing the strips, place them on the hull and mark the spots where they meet the eyebolts. Make cuts on the strips at the marks made, then glue the strips on the hull, adapting them to the eyebolts. Finally, sand them, aligning them with the frames of the gunports that they cross
Paint the remaining 1.5x1.5x300mm strips gold, then, in the same way as in the previous steps, mount another wale 4mm above the first, adapting it to the gunports.
Repeat to mount four wales on the other side of your model.
Take 16 diecast round frames (Issue 67, 69 and 75), coat them with metal primer then paint them gold. Once dry, mask the reim of the frames to create a 1mm wide band at the flat end, then paint the 1mm band black. An alternative method is also described.
Glue four round frames in the holes on the front of the forecastle, making sure that the knurled part of the pieces is towards the outside.
Glue two round frames in the holes in the gunwale of the forecastle, three in the holes of the quarterdeck gunwale and one in the hole of the upper quarterdeck gunwale.
Repeat on the other side of the hull.
This completed this stage, carefully store any remaining parts.

Issue 77 - Contains a crew figurine, figurehead platform and decorations for the right-hand side quarter gallery.
Take the six decorations of the right-hand side quarter gallery (which are identified with a letter and number code), coat them with metal primer then paint them gold.
Fix the six decorations at the bottom of the right-hand side quarter gallery with metal glue, as shown in the instructions.
Take the two pieces of the figurine that you received with Issue 75, smooth their surfaces with a file to remove any irregularities.
Glue the figurine together by inserting the arm into the housing in the chest. When the glue has set, coat the figurine with metal primer, then paint it gold.
Fix the figurine in the upper central space among the decorations in the centre of the transom.
Take the four scroll decorations that you received with Issues 66 and 69, coat them with metal primer, paint them gold, then paint the deeper sections black to create a relief effect.
Glue a scroll on the stern end of the parapet of the left-hand side of the quarterdeck. The scroll must rest against the edge of the bulkhead between the quarterdeck and upper quarterdeck.
Glue another scroll on the rear end of the parapet of the left-hand side of the quarterdeck. The scroll must rest on the parapet of the upper quarterdeck.
Similarly, fix the remaining two scrolls onto the parapets of the right-hand side of the model in the same positions.
Cut the bow platform and block pieces from the fret, then glue the blocks into the rectangular slots on the platform as shown in the instructions. Ensure that the three holes indicated on the platform are not obstructed with glue.
Test-fit (but do not glue) the platform at the bow, then remove it and apply wood filler onto the upper surface of the platform. When fully dry smooth the filler with a fine-grained sanding-block to achieve a smooth and even surface.
Paint the underside of platform black, and when fully dry,then paint the top surface and the side edges of the platform gold. Do the same with the side faces of the small block pieces you fixed below it. It would be an idea not to paint the platform until you receive the horse figurehead at issue 82, where you can then make any adjustment to the horse fixing holes in the platform, befire it is permanently fixed onto the platform at Stage 109
Take the ship's capatain figurine, use a small file remove any irregularities, then apply a coat of metal primer.
Use a fine paintbrush to paint the figurine in the colours shown in the instructions.
This completes this stage, carefully store any remaining parts and the figurine.

Issue 78 - Contains parts to make the lower mainmast fighting top & crosstree, along with mast and spar dowl lengths.
Cut the platform base, circular handrail and the 16 posts from the fret, then smooth the pieces with fine-grained sandpaper to remove any burrs or slinters. Before starting the assembly, please refer to the 78 update information provided here:

Put a drop of glue in one of the notches on the edge of the base and fix a post inside, placing it as shown in the photo, ensure that you have the post correctly oriented. Then glue the other 15 posts around the base in a similar fashion.
Now glue the handrail on top of the posts and set aside to fully dry
Take the two pieces CA4 from the fret and, after smoothing them with fine-grain sandpaper, glue them one above the other, aligning them precisely.
Cut the five pieces CA5 from the frets. Sand them and glue them one above the other, as shown in the photos. Make sure that they are perfectly aligned with one another.
Glue the piece made by joining the pieces CA5 over the 8mmdiameter hole on the piece CA4 that you assembled earlier to create the mast cap. When the glue has set, smooth the sides of piece CA5 with a sanding-block, aligning its edges with CA4.
Paint the mast cap black.
Cut crosstree pieces CA6, CA7, CA8 and CA9 from the fret. Assemble and glue the crosstree, as shown in the instructions. Check that the pieces are at right angles.
Paint the fighting top, crosstree crosstree and parts CA9 a sapele colour. Then paint the edges of the fighting top burgundy red to match the hull stripe.
Turn thefighting top over. After applying a thin layer of glue to the ends of the bars, fit the crosstree onto the platform making sure that it is centred.
The magazine shows a dimesnsion plan of the main mast sections and yards. The plan will be required for this assembly session and those in future issues.
Carefully taper by hand or use a mini lathe to taper the lower main mast and the topmast as shown, then paint both a sapele colour.
This completes this stage, carefully store the remaining dowel and place the fighting top, mast cap, CA9 parts and both tapered mast sections into a bag labelled main mast.

Issue 79 - Contains parts to make the middle and upper mainmast fighting tops, crosstree parts and dowel lengths.
The assembly of the middle and upper fighting tops is similar to the fighting top made in the previous stage.
Cut the platform CB1, the 12 posts CB2 and the circular handrail CB3 from the fret and sand any irregularities or splinters. Glue the posts in the notches around the edge of the platform. Then glue the handrail CB3 onto the posts CB2, making sure that it is centred.
Cut pieces CB4, CB5, CB6 and CB7 from the fret. These pieces make up the crosstree of the middle fighting top.
Assemble the two side bars CB5 with the cross bars CB4, then fix the linking piece CB7 in the middle. Check that the pieces are at right angles to one another. Turn the crosstree over and glue parts CB6 on the cross bars CB5, as shown in the photos. Make sure that parts CB6 lie 1mm over one of the two cross bars CB4.
Turn the cap over and glue the crosstree on it so that it is perfectly centered with the rectangular opening of the platform. If the crosstree is mounted correctly, the two cross bars CB4 are aligned with the longer sides of the rectangular opening, while the linking piece CB7 is in the middle.
Cut the two pieces CB8 and CB9 from the fret. Glue the two pieces CB8 one above the other, aligning the holes exactly.
Join together the three pieces CB9. If necessary, level the edges of the pieces with sandpaper. Then glue the piece just assembled, over one of the holes in the CB8 assembly, aligning it with one of the short sides. Smooth the side edges of CB9 with a flat file, levelling it with the base CB8.
Set the fighting top and mast cap aside for now.
Cut platform CC1, the eight posts CC2 and the circular handrail CC3 from the fet. After sanding the pieces, glue the posts in the notches around the edge of the platform. Now glue the handrail on top of the posts.
Cut the cross bars CC4 from the fret and glue together the side bars CC5 and the linking piece CC7 to make the crosstree of the middle mast upper fighting top.
Turn the crosstree upside down, take parts CC6 and glue them on parts CC5 so that they lie 1mm over one of the two cross bars CC4.
Turn the cap over and glue the crosstree on the platform in a central position. The cross bars CC4 must be aligned with the long sides of the rectangular opening.
Cut the two pieces of CC8 from the fet and glue one on top of the other, aligning the holes. Then join the three pieces CC9 and glue them over one of the holes on the parts CC8 just assembled , aligning them with a short side. Sand the edges of parts CC9, levelling it with CC8.
Paint both fighting tops a sapele colour and the mast cap blocks, black. Then use a fine paintbrush to paint the outer edges of both fighting tops burgundy red to match the previous fighting top made.
This completes this stage, carefully store the remaining dowel, and place the fighting tops and mast cap's into a bag labelled mainmast.

Issue 80 - Contains transom support brackets, blocks and steel wire.
Cut the stern brackets 152 and 153 from the fret supplied with this issue.
Carefully smooth the edges of the two transom supports 152 with sandpaper to remove any burrs or splinters.
Test-fit the supports beneath the transom, symmetrical to the centre line and at a distance of 14mm from one another, making sure that they fit the stern shape and adjust if necessary. Then paint them a sapele colour and when dry, paint the longer curved edge of both brackets gold.
Glue both supports beneath transom at a distance of 14mm from one another either side of the centre line.
Take the outer transom supports 153 and arrange them beneath the transom, aligning them with side edges of the hull and make adjustment if necessary. Then paint the suports a sapele colour, and when dry, paint the longer curved edge of the two pieces gold, then glue the supports in the position.
Completing the ships boat:
Take two 7mm eyebolts from those you received with Issue 63. Use needle-nosed pliers, bend the stems of the two eyebolts to 90 degrees. Cut off the two rings of the eyebolts to obtain two ‘L’-shaped pieces (pintles).
Cut the ruddert from the fret that you received with Issue 8. With a flat file, round the edge of the rudder with the two notches that will be used for fixing it on the hull of the ships boat.
Paint the rudder the same ivory white colour that you used to paint the bottom of the hull of your ships boat.
Take the brass strip B-1 that came with Issue 12. Wrap one end of the strip around the rounded edge of the rudder at the top edge of one of the two notches. Cut the brass strip to obtain a ‘U’-shaped piece that you will use as the hinge of the rudder. Then, make a second hinge.
Paint the hinges metallic black. When dry, glue the two pieces at the top of the notches on the rudder and flush with the edge.
Without using glue, place the rudder against the cente line of the transom of the shpis boat, aligning the lower edge with the keel. Then use a penci to mark on the stern of the launch the position of the lower edge of each of the two hinges on the rudder.
Using a 0.5mm bit, drill two holes in the transom at the pencil marks made.
Take the two ‘L’-shaped pieces that you made in Step 11 and glue them into the holes on the stern of the boat, taking care to point them upwards
Set the rudder hinges upon the pins by hooking the hingeson to the two ‘L’-shaped pintles.
Take a 1.5x1.5x300mm birch strip that came with Issue 76. Smooth it with a sanding-block down to 1x1x300mm in size, and then round its edges.
To make the tiller handel, cut a 17mm-long segment from reduced size strip. Glue the piece to the helm, as shown in the instructions. When the glue has set, paint it ivory.
To creat the mast of the shops boat, take the 2mm diameter dowel that you received with Issue 13. Cut it to a length of 102mm. Use a sanding-block to taper the dowel so that one end has a diameter of 1.5mm, then round the tapered end.
Paint the mast a sapele colour, and when the it is dry, paint the rounded end ivory. Place the mast of the boat in the position shown in the photos, fixing it with glue.
Take one of the two small barrels that you received with Issue 37. Paint the barrel a sapele colour. Then use a fine paintbrush to pick out the four hoops with metallic black paint.
This completes the ships boat. As a normal rule when ships boats are stored on deck, the rudder would be removed from the transom and stored within the boat.
Carefully store the ships boat and remaining parts.

Issue 81 - Contains diecast stern decorations & horse figurehead, along with stern flagpole parts.
Use a fine file to caefuly remove any burrs from both halves of the horse casting. Glue both halves together, and when set, use model filler to fill the visible joint lines and then smooth the joint with fine sandpaper. You can now check the fit of the horse onto the platform base assembled in issue 77, then paint the platform as described in issue 77.
Take the eight diecast stern decorations. File any burrs then coat with metal primer and paint them gold.
Glue the eight decorations to the transom in the positions and orientation indicated.
Cut the three flagpole base parts from the fret then smooth then to remove any irregularities or splinters.
Test-fit then glue pieces 152 and 154 to piece 153, using the two notches on one of the edges of 153. Check that pieces 152 and 153 are at a right angle to one another.
Use a fine file or sandpapaer to remove the laser ash from the edges of the flagpole base assembly, then paint it walnut.
To make the flagpole, take the 0.2x300mm dowel and cut it to a length of 190mm, then smooth it with fine-grained sandpaper and paint it a sapele colour.
Glue the flagpole inside the base.
Cut the flagpole ring 155 from the fret, smooth the burrs, then thread the ring on the top of the flagpole and glue it 2mm from the end of the dowel. Then paint the ring walnut.
Glue the flagpole assembly to the upper quarterdeck. Set it central to the side edges of the deck and at a distance of 22mm from the transom. Gluing it in place at this stage wil make it vulnerable to damage, so you may want to leave it until later in the build.
Carefully store the diecast horse for later use.

Issue 82 - Contains parts to assemble the bowsprit fighting top and diecast figurehead and laid back figurine.
Take the four components of the knight with sword (the identification codes are shown in the step photo) and go over them with a file to remove any imperfections.
Glue the head PF2b and arms PF2c and PF2d to the torso. Apply filler along the joints of the pieces of the statuette then smooth the surfaces with fine-grained sandpaper.
Take the statuette of the horse PF1 that you assembled in Issue 81, and glue the figurine onto the back of the horse. Apply filler on the joint of parts PF1 and PF2. Then, smooth the surface of the statuette with fine-grained sandpaper.
Take the pieces of the laid back figurine (the identification codes are shown in the photo) and go over them with a file to remove any small imperfections. Put a little metal glue on the points of PF3a, as shown in the photo, and attach the head PF3b and arms PF3c and PF3d.
Pant the horse figurine and laid back figurine with metal primer, then paint both gold.
Take the fret and cut the the pieces needed for the assembly of the of the bowsprit fighting top that came with this issue. Cut the platform CD1, the 12 railing posts CD2 and the handrail CD3 from the fret.
With a fine-grained sanding sandpaper to smooth the edges of all the pieces to remove any burrs or splinters.
Put a drop of PVA wood glue in one of the notches on the edge of the platform CD1 and fix a railing post CD2, positioning it as shown. Then fix the other 11 railing posts onto the platform.
Put a little glue on the ends of the posts, fix on them the handrail CD3, making sure that it is centred.
Cut the side bars CD4 and the cross bars CD5 from the fret to assemble the cross of the pulpit. Assemble the side bars CD4 and the cross bars CD5 as shown and check that the pieces are at right angles to one other.
Paint the crosstree and fighting top a sapele colour. When the fighting top is dry line the outside egdes with burgundy paint as before.
Turn the fighting top over, and glue the crosstree to the platform, making sure that it is centred. The bars of the cross should be aligned with the sides of the rectangular opening of the base.
Carefully store the figurines for later use and keep safe the remaining parts.

Issue 83 - Contains birch strips and four diecast statuettes.
Identify the diecast parts which make up each of the four statuettes.
Remove any burrs from the casting's then follow the instructions to assemble each figurine in turn. Then coat all the figurines with metal primer then paint them gold.
Take the strips that came with this issue and lightly smooth them with a fine-grained sanding-block. Prime and paint gold three of the four sides of each strip, leaving one side unpainted for good glue adhearance when fixing the strips to the hull.
Cut a strip of masking tape 14mm wide and 230mm long. Fix it on the stern area of the left-hand side of the model.
Cut one of the strips to length and glue it on the hull, along the top edge of the tape. The cornice must be aligned with the base of the railings of the deck. Then remove the masking tape.
Repeat the procedure and fix a piece of strip in the forward area of the left-hand side of the hull, aligning it with the base of the railings of the deck.
Glue another strip in the stern area, 13mm above the previous one. The strip should be aligned with the base of the railings of the quarterdeck and the frame T14 of the quarter galleries.
Fix another strip 15mm above the previous one. It must be aligned to the base of the railings of the upper quarterdeck and touch the roofs of the quarter galleries.
To make the last bow strip, cut three strips to measure and fit them to the outlines of the two round gun ports. Glue them, following the measurements shown in the instructions.
Paint the outer edges of the bases and the handrails of the parapets of the ship gold.
Repeat to fit the strips onto the right side of the model and a paint the outer edge of the bases and handrails gold.
Make two 6mm-long gold strips. Fix one on the left edge of the front wall of the forecastle, aligning it with the strip assembled earlier. Fix the other piece on the right-hand edge.
Cut two pieces of 23mm-long gold strip and bend them. Glue the pieces on the rounded section of the front wall of the forecastle, extending the strips just fitted.
To complete the strips of the forecastle wall, cut a piece of gold strip 70mm long and fix it between the two portions of the cornice that you fixed in the previous step.
Carefully store the diecast figurines and remaining wooden strips.
